As I recall from the early 70's, every team was assured one player on the all-star team. Not a lot of teams.....Sorry Syd your numbers are tainted

This dude said Galinari and Nurk over Westbrook........ Jesus Lord Almighty.
Westbrook is a very unique basketball player. He is one of the most elite Athletes in the game. He plays with more energy than just anout every one in the NBA. His only real weakness is he cant shoot and lets face it he can be a selfish player at times.
I still think he’s a top 5 PG in the NBA though and frankly lets give him some credit for this, KD won an M VP in OKC and PG13 is having the best year of his career with WB. He deserves to be in the all star game.

Him and Simmons in Philly and Giannis.....NONE of them can shoot! Yet, they still put up the numbers they do. That makes them even MORE impressive! Since they CAN'T shoot, shouldn't that make it that much easier to shut down?

Giannis and Simmons are easily 5-6inches taller than him and score basically by dunking and just out jumping guys. Im not big fans of their games I think they get away with a lot of stuff(I get it all stars do), I respect what their doing, but WB plays in the better conference, and I think what he does as a PG is just extremely unique.

I was watching that Jazz game (as usual with perfectly edited replays) on my laptop putting my 6 year old to bed and he was like: "I like the Blazers, but the other team's uniforms are fucking awesome" or something close to that.

Yeah my wife said the same and I told her she was fucking crazy. That went over well.

So the way I feel about those and similar more graphical uni’s is that their pretty nice to wear on occasions, but I prefer if they are only out there 5-6 times a year. I will say the Utah Court with those matching uni’s is a good pair. Looks a lot better than Milwaukee and Denvers...

Ive been to all 3 places and the Utah ones I dunno it feels like “Utah” to me, like at least the colors and graphics feel like a good representation of the State.

Man Vucevic is an all star..... Nobody would trade Nurk for him right ?

No. Nurk would be an all-star if he played for the Magic.

Vucevic is also older, expiring, and will get paid $20M+, and isnt as good of a fit as Nurk.
I wonder if Vucevic's breakout this season is why they're making Bamba available in trade; like they're planning on keeping Vooch long-term. Maybe they're hoping to make a splash, convert some of their young potential into an established player that could complement their core. Like CJ, for example?

CJ for Bamba would be a bad move for us. That's probably who theyd ask for though.

The Jazz uniforms were made out of old Houston Astro uniforms.

I wonder what they did with the old early 80's White Sox uniforms that were just as bad.

.... And I wonder what happened to Lamar Hoyt, the CY Young winning pitcher too. He got kicked out of the league cause he couldn't stay off the
cocaína.

For real? I've never seen that mentioned before. That would dramatically change the significance of early all-star nods.

I am pretty sure. I can't find anything that says that but I remember either Petrie or Wicks making it every year until the leaugue expanded with the addition of some of the ABA teams. If you look at the box scores from that era, there is a reserve from every team in the league

I feel for the guy.

Of course the asshole Warriors chime in.

If that was the case, it ceased to be by 1976, because the Blazers had no ASG representative that season.

Regardless, there were 14-man all-star squads in the early 70's, with only 17 teams in the league, so it was definitely a lot easier to be an all-star then than it is now.

Exactly. 1976 was the year the league expanded with the ABA teams.
