Our very own television broadcaster Mike Barrett was recently acknowledged for his athletic accomplishments on the baseball field, as well as his success as a broadcaster off of it, as he was inducted into the West Albany Sports Hall of Fame.

A contingent that includes West Albany coaches, principals, media and current members of the Hall, the committee evaluates nominees by a series of votes to select each year’s class. The 10-year Blazers Broadcasting veteran was selected in his first year being considered.

Barrett’s father, Duane, was also selected to this year’s class for his success coaching men’s basketball and golf. The Barretts round out the 22-member West Albany Hall of Fame. Mike is one of the first 10 individual athletes to be inducted into the Hall, as more than half of the members were selected as entire teams.

Although athletic accomplishment is a major factor in the selection process, contribution to society after graduation is also a factor. Barrett’s success as a broadcaster for the Trail Blazers can also be attributed to his selection.

In related and equally impressive news, I was inducted into the 115th street HOF back in the day.

I was inducted into the hall of fame which is also known as my bulletin board on my wall. Amazingly enough, only myself, and a bunch of drunk miscreants I have encountered over the years have been inducted.

I'd bet HCP was runner-up.

Actually Mediocre Man was 1st runner up but HCP had to give up his crown after those nude pictures of him became public.

Seems only fair that he had to give up his crown, because I suspect that the public gave up it's lunch.

I was 1st team All-NEP back in the late 80's!

Doesn't the way this sentence is written mean that his selection is why he had success as a broadcaster, and not the other way around?
