I'm watching Righteous Kill as I type.

Whoa.

I would be interested to hear the justification here. I'm almost always willing to give the cops the benefit of the doubt, but that looks more like an execution than a reasonable reaction. Man.

he thought he was pulling out his stun gun.

he thought he was pulling out his stun gun.

well IF that turns out to be the case I can only imagine the despair the cop is going thru. You want to think how can anybody want to shoot in that situation and accept that it was an honest mistake of grabbing a gun instead of a stun gun, but at the same time how can somebody mistake the difference. Cops usually have a standard belt with everything always in the same place so he should know he was grabbing a gun just by where he grabbed on his belt..

How close does their stun guns look like a real gun?

cops go through so much training, to mistake that is just a bullshit excuse IMO. i mean when you point, your looking exactly at the gun!!!

Something like this?

Or is another kind that looks nothing like a gun and shoots out those wires?

I just cant fathom how evil that cop would have to be to do this in front of everyone. I know cops do shady shit but fuck....

i dont know but you have to take the safety lock off, and use the laser. theres no way he really got them confused.

does anyone remember the african american female that was shot in portland, causing some controversy. i cant remember the name

You know due to weight difference issues between the 2 weapons, I have a real problem with the "I was reaching for my stun gun" line.

He was 22. What more justification is necessary?

yes. thanks. but for some reason it keeps redirecting me to a different page on oregonlive
Yeah -- I guess the link is bad. I googled Kendra police shooting, I thought her name was Kendra James but I was sure that her first name was Kendra. The link was supposedly to a lawsuit filed in 2003 by her family for $10 million. I was surprised that it was that long ago.

That's ridiculous. Police officers go through so much training. There is no way he thought he was pulling out his tazer. There is another video I can link you all too which is a little bit clearer.

Embedded media from this media site is no longer available

I don't know anything about the Bart Police Department, but Portland cops carry their tazer in a different leg holster down on their thigh, whereas their sidearm is usually on their hip. Again, I'm not sure where that officer carried his tazer, but I fail to see how the mistake could be made. They usually are on a completely different part of their body. It sounds like bullshit to me.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KCBS) -- A protest over the shooting of an unarmed man by BART police turned violent Wednesday night on the same day the officer who shot 22-year-old Oscar Grant resigned.

Hundreds of protestors gathered at BART's Fruitvale Station after Grant's funeral to protest what they say is an incident of police brutality at the site of the young father's death. The crowds prompted BART to interrupt service at the station, with trains passing through without stopping throughout the afternoon and into the night.
At about 5pm, demonstrators began marching down International Boulevard towards Lake Meritt, completely blocking westbound traffic on the street. About 10 police cars were called in to escort the protestors to the lake.

The situation later turned violent when protestors set Dumpsters on fire and vandalized a police car, smashing the back window and attempting to overturn it. Police in riot gear fired tear gas at the rowdy demonstrators, who ran from the scene. Smaller splinter groups of protestors continued their raucus march through the area.

The rally and march followed the news that Officer Johannes Mehserle submitted his resignation Wednesday morning.

To me it looks like he was cooperative. The situation didn't require the use of stun gun or firearm. I think some cops have become too reliant on stun guns since they are typically non lethal and quickly make people "cooperative".

but I digress... Yeah, that cop fucked up
