The NYPD detective who was caught on video chewing out an Uber driver has been stripped of his shield and gun, and will be placed on modified duty, Police officials said.

Detective Patrick Cherry has been removed from the department’s elite Joint Terrorism Task Force and will be doing desk duty until he is officially transferred out of the prestigious division.

“No good cop should watch that video without a wince,” Commissioner Bill Bratton said at a Wednesday press conference. “Because all good cops know that officer just made their jobs a little bit harder.”

“In that kind of encounter, anger like that is unacceptable,” Bratton continued. “In any encounter, discourtesy and obscene language like that is unacceptable.

“That officer’s behavior reflected poorly on everyone who wears our uniform.”

The incident was being investigated by the Internal Affairs Bureau before being taken over by the Civilian Complaint Review Board, police said.

The Uber driver was far more patient and polite than I would have been. The cop would have ended up shooting me because I would have told him to fuck off.
 
I love that cell phones cameras are capturing all these assholes. I was approached while walking by a similarly abusive cop when I was in highschool, cursed at and jostled by my shoulder and have never been able to figure out why, but cell phone cameras weren't invented yet.
 
Meanwhile the NYPD cop who choked Eric Garner to death has all charges dismissed by a grand jury despite a history of harassing Garner and his wife.

Confused by this. You mean someone here will say the cop isn't racist?

I can't imagine anyone being that dense.

I also suspect the cop is the type of guy who would kick a puppy when nobody is looking. I have no proof of that, I just get that vibe from him.

Of course, he might just think he is superior to everyone including white people. If the driver was a fat white guy he would have probably made reference to that, being a bully with a badge.

I watched the video and wished the passengers would have told him what an asshole he is.

It's sad that a small amount of the police force, the bad apples brings terror and fear into the populace. It's getting to the point where every police officer needs to wear body cameras w/microphones.

I think the problem is that we assume that it's a small amount.
 
I've been saying that people who want to be cops are generally the last type of person who should be cops. We need to draft them.

Go to the mall and watch how many old men are there checking out 12 year old girls.

My wife drags me to the mall every so often. Last time there was a 65 year old man in the food court reading a newspaper. I watched him peek around his newspaper at some young girls. I told my wife and she saw him do it. She was repulsed.

I see this stuff everywhere, she doesn't because she is preoccupied with what she is doing.

Watch how many guys are looking down women's shirts from the upper level. All damn day.
