I was thinking more of a controlled opening for Oregon.

Oregon to date has had zero deaths under 40 and over half the deaths in Oregon are from the assisted living center.
Just seems are numbers look decent enough that we could in a very controlled fashion be more proactive rather than just saying well another month or two would be best?

but what you proposed seemed kind of experimental. Putting kids back in school to try and create a portion of herd immunity. I'd be surprised if many parents would volunteer their children for this program. Further, you'd be forcing teachers to risk exposure to covid, as well as other school staff

as I said, this seems experimental and is based upon lots of assumptions in a time of very limited data

Oregon is definitely doing well with the policies in place:

but if you look closely, while the curves are flattening, we are still on the uphill side of them. I'd think it would be prudent to give in 3-4 more weeks to see where we are than. More than that though is we need a lot more testing. I've seen a couple of epidemiologist say a minimum testing baseline would be at least 5% of the population and it would be better if it was 10%. A 5% baseline would be 210,000 tests for Oregon and we've only done 33,000

I understand what you are saying, but I never indicated or the article to put kids back in school, he was talking about exposing then quarantining for 14 days and those that are over it could be released.
As of yesterday Oregon Health Authorities daily report indicates that less than 1.5% of all Emergency Room cases were virus related.

There were a couple posters in here a week or so that claimed they thought they had covid-19 in November/ December and i recall both my wife and i had a head cold upper respitory issues for over a week. Nothing real serious but enough to make you feel incomfortable. I know several other people reported similar symptoms but no way do i think it was even remotely attributed to Covid. It was just a typical fall/ winter cold.

I was sick as hell in early December. I had a horrible cough and fever and I could barely catch my breath sometimes at night. I'm assuming it was just a bad flu bug but you never know.

I can envision how awkward the briefing must have been with his team after the initial statement.

who had the sack to actually tell him he was wrong?

maybe Barron broke the news to him?

If you read the comments, someone posted the 'Whatever I do want I want' gif of Cartman. That's exactly who Trump is, all grown up. Although Cartman would reveal he had a heart. Very seldom, that it was.

So maybe that isn't the best comparison.

G7 leaders call for ‘thorough review’ of besieged WHO amid questions about coronavirus, pro-China bias

The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries are calling for a “thorough review and reform process” for the World Health Organization (WHO), the White House said Thursday -- two days after President Trump announced he was halting funding to the embattled organization.

The announcement came from a readout from the White House after a videoconference meeting between the leaders, chaired by Trump.

“The leaders recognized that the G7 nations annually contribute more than a billion dollars to the World Health Organization (WHO), and much of the conversation centered on the lack of transparency and chronic mismanagement of the pandemic by the WHO,” the White House statement said. “The leaders called for a thorough review and reform process.”

He identifies as an MD like all the others that are all over the place with this virus.

Although I would tend to trust an average MD more than an average plumber on this subject, having an MD doesn't actually give you much if any training in how to handle pandemics. Add to that the fact that some fraction of MDs are simply lunatics, quacks, partisan hacks, senile, etc.

So the Gov/Mayor of Washington State are wrong for opening up parks under control criteria. I assume they are leaning on advise from qualifies MD's, whatever that is?

I don't know the details of the park openings, but that's a lot different than intentionally infecting people as your MD was suggesting. Not sure opening parks is a good idea, but I suppose it depends on the controls.

Can't wait for Trump's press conference today. I think he's going to be angry! Should make for a good show.

Agree a good percentage of doctors are simply easy likely trouble shooters but even the Gov is probably leaning on a quack or two.
3 deaths under 60 and 0 under 40 since Jan. has to mean something. You could mandate people stay home for three more months and you will still get cases/flair ups.

What makes you think he will be angry?

all depends on the questions. He'll vaguely answer easy questions but has been very aggressive when he is asked questions that are specific and he doesn't like the answer. He's been doing that pretty much forever as he makes comments like "you're a fake", "you are disgusting", "no wonder your magazine is failing" and then never answers the question.
