No, what's sad is that we have a clueless leader touting stuff that's extremely dangerous. He needs to STFU.
That too...even when he's gone people will do stupid stuff and risk theirs and others lives.

Looks like medical research and treatments actually “inject disinfectants” into our blood stream. Go figure....

After learning about Chemotherapy is actually the therapy of injecting “disinfectants” into the blood stream and UV rays are a form of disinfectant that scientists and medical researchers are studying, I guess it wasn’t as outlandish as first thought. That’s why I try and wait for the facts to come in first.

On FB its all about... "WHAT AN IDIOT OF A PRESIDENT!!!! HOW DARE HE SAY SUCH THINGS AND MISREPRESENT!!!!"...

Curious how his supporters feel about latest medical advice their president attempted to hand out yesterday?
Do they agree and have they tried this?
How can you guys stand behind and support someone who said something like this.
Please don’t blow it off, he actually believes people should do that. ........ and HE speaks for you? HE is your leader?

They won’t come out and say it’s ridiculous and dangerous. no they won’t try it. They have dug their heels in so deep nothing will change their minds. We have tried logic and facts but nothing matters.

Cedars-Sinai-Developed ‘Healight’ Medical Device Platform Technology Being Studied as a Potential First-in-Class COVID-19 Treatment

Conference Call Scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 4:30 pm ET

ENGLEWOOD, CO / ACCESSWIRE / April 20, 2020 / Aytu BioScience, Inc. (NASDAQ:AYTU) (the “Company”), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on commercializing novel products that address significant patient needs announced today that it has signed an exclusive worldwide license from Cedars-Sinai to develop and commercialize the Healight Platform Technology (“Healight”). This medical device technology platform, discovered and developed by scientists at Cedars-Sinai, is being studied as a potential first-in-class treatment for coronavirus and other respiratory infections.

The company will host a live conference call and webcast Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. ET. Conference call details are provided at the end of this press release.

Led by Mark Pimentel, MD, the research team of the Medically Associated Science and Technology (MAST) Program at Cedars-Sinai has been developing the patent-pending Healight platform since 2016 and has produced a growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating pre-clinical safety and effectiveness of the technology as an antiviral and antibacterial treatment. The Healight technology employs proprietary methods of administering intermittent ultraviolet (UV) A light via a novel endotracheal medical device. Pre-clinical findings indicate the technology’s significant impact on eradicating a wide range of viruses and bacteria, inclusive of coronavirus. The data have been the basis of discussions with the FDA for a near-term path to enable human use for the potential treatment of coronavirus in intubated patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Beyond the initial pursuit of a coronavirus ICU indication, additional data suggest broader clinical applications for the technology across a range of viral and bacterial pathogens. This includes bacteria implicated in ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP).

“Our team has shown that administering a specific spectrum of UV-A light can eradicate viruses in infected human cells (including coronavirus) and bacteria in the area while preserving healthy cells,” stated Dr. Pimentel of Cedars-Sinai. Ali Rezaie, MD, one of the inventors of this technology states, “Our lab at Cedars-Sinai has extensively studied the effects of this unique technology on bacteria and viruses. Based on our findings we believe this therapeutic approach has the potential to significantly impact the high morbidity and mortality of coronavirus-infected patients and patients infected with other respiratory pathogens. We are looking forward to partnering with Aytu BioScience to move this technology forward for the benefit of patients all over the world.”
I stand corrected. This was obviously the study your leader was thoroughly going over right before the press conference. This is the exact extensive research he was trying so eloquently to pass along to your family and mine. Sigh...

Love to see the spin

Now trump claims he was being sarcastic when he talked of disenfectant injections. Didn't stop the trumpers from trying to validate it though. How rich! :biglaugh:

Ultraviolet Irradiation of Blood: “The Cure That Time Forgot”?
Michael R. Hamblin

Additional article information

Abstract
Ultraviolet blood irradiation (UBI) was extensively used in the 1940s and 1950s to treat many diseases including septicemia, pneumonia, tuberculosis, arthritis, asthma and even poliomyelitis. The early studies were carried out by several physicians in USA and published in the American Journal of Surgery. However with the development of antibiotics, UBI use declined and it has now been called “the cure that time forgot”. Later studies were mostly performed by Russian workers and in other Eastern countries and the modern view in Western countries is that UBI remains highly controversial.

This chapter discusses the potential of UBI as an alternative approach to current methods used to treat infections, as an immune-modulating therapy and as a method for normalizing blood parameters. No resistance of microorganisms to UV irradiation has been reported, and multi- antibiotic resistant strains are as susceptible as their wild-type counterparts. Low and mild doses of UV kill microorganisms by damaging the DNA, while any DNA damage in host cells can be rapidly repaired by DNA repair enzymes. However the use of UBI to treat septicemia cannot be solely due to UV-mediated killing of bacteria in the blood-stream, as only 5–7% of blood volume needs to be treated with UV to produce the optimum benefit. UBI may enhance the phagocytic capacity of various phagocytic cells (neutrophils and dendritic cells), inhibit lymphocytes, and oxidize blood lipids. The oxidative nature of UBI may have mechanisms in common with ozone therapy and other oxygen therapies. There may be some similarities to extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) using psoralens and UVA irradiation. However there are differences between UBI and ECP in that UBI tends to stimulate the immune system, while ECP tends to be immunosuppressive. With the recent emergence of bacteria that are resistant to all known antibiotics, UBI should be more investigated as an alternative approach to infections, and as an immune-modulating therapy.

is very interesting read. unfortunately it seems to lack any studies on viral cell responses to the treatment. i did not see any references to viruses in any of the similar article links embedded in the government's page either. i don't have any information if that the pnuemonia that cv-19 patients develop is bacterial and this might be effective or not if they are of a viral nature or if the treatments without killing the corona virus would it have any value if the pnuemonia were viral in nature or to come back as no immunity is developed for the corona in the patients. still it is an interesting article and thank you for posting it. unfortunately it would take as long as the vaccine to be developed to get any trial and treatment approval. what worries me is that the world was promised a vaccine to the HIV virus back in the early 80's by our government and it still ravishes africa as they still wait.

Apology accepted.

Agreed. I remember Trump saying possible treatments that are being studied though.

Trump Said he was just asking sarcastically about the disinfectant to the reporters just to see what they would do.

Not sure what's more hilarious, trump spouting his crap or the trumpers spinning what he says.

that's the drill

trump will say something stupid or tout an unproven 'treatment' and this forum will be flooded with posts trying to rationalize the stupidity

it happened when he babbled about hydrachloroquine. There were 2-3 weeks and about a hundred posts here by trump supporters (and others) showing that trump wasn't talking out of his ass. And to this point, if anything, that drug appears to cause more harm then good when fighting Covid. Meanwhile, people with Lupus are having major trouble getting the drug that saves their lives

now it's UV radiation there's a flood of posts about it's miraculous properties and potentials. They are having a harder time justifying the notion of injecting bleach, but give it time

it's worth keeping in mind that the subject was brought up in reference to the possibility that the spread of covid would ratchet down in the summer because of UV, heat, and humidity

even though the connection to disinfecting the blood may be plausible in your articles there is this today:

Later Friday, Trump said he was not being serious: “I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen.” His original comments drew widespread criticism from health professionals and Reckitt Benckiser, which makes Lysol and Dettol.

‘I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning.’

It’s quite possible. Chemotherapy uses disinfectants injected into the blood stream

It's ok, Mags is also posting the articles about using light and disinfectants sarcastically. Didn't ya notice the green font?

So much sarcasm, so much winning.

We’ve already beat that dead horse all throughout this thread. I said all politicians lie and lie a lot. I came to grips with that reality since I started paying attention to politics.

Don't you feel a bit foolish now trying to spin a statement by your boy and now he claims he was being sarcastic to a reporters question that wasn't asked. Such a stable .......... bullshitter.

Seems your only goal in life is to purposely derail threads and attack those not a part of your echo chamber. I won't be part of that. If you truly care to debate what the topic of this thread, I will be glad to do so. I more than welcome you to post this context in the thread that is on topic.

They are not all articles. A few were actual scientific studies. Would you like me to show them again to you?

that's the big problem with these dumb daily press briefings. To start with, they are little more than re-election commercials for trump. If the purpose was to actually inform, there would be 2 or 3 briefings a week of 10-20 minutes, at most. But they are 2 hours long because trump wants the camera time, and trump ad-libbing for 2 hours a day guarantees lies, bragging, deflection, and tons of crazy. And every day afterwards, it's "clean-up on aisle 9"

“Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked but you’re going to test it. And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that too. Sounds interesting,” Trump said, turning toward Bryan. “And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do something like that? Like injection inside or almost a cleaning because, you see, it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number in the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that.”

“You’re going to have to use medical doctors, but it sounds interesting to me,” the president added.

He has lost it. He may have residual effects of a nervous breakdown. eaf36fa0-84b9-11ea-be32-0f3e0281b40creal trump .png

I agree with this. I think a weekly briefing is fine. I also would rather see more technical jargon with the scientists, doctors and departments that can give updates on what is going on. Trump should make a small statement, then introduce the specialists then walk out of the room.

I have lots of goals in life, but that isn't one of them. This is the coronavirus thread and my post was certainly on topic. You got duped by your boy and now you get pissy at me. Go figure, lol.

He can't do that as he has to have control of everything. He doesn't trust people and will not allow then to do their job as he thinks he's a bigger expert than those that have taken part in their field for years and if they cross his imaginary line he will fire them. It's been proven.
