Coronavirus in Oregon: State sets a record, again, with 184 new cases

yeah, today's big jump was due to 99 cases at a church in Union County, but it seems like every day there's some hot spot that spikes. We've gone from 32 new cases/day to over 128 new cases/day. That's a four-fold increase in 17 days; that's crazy. And latest projections, based upon the latest numbers point to another multiple increase by July.

I think there is a lot of nervousness in the health department and Gov's office. The stay at home orders were implemented when we were at 17 new cases a day. They don't want to close things again, for sure, but if we start hitting 200 or 300 new cases a day, they probably will close things again

Wasn't a much larger second wave predicted?

Wasn't a much larger second wave predicted?

pretty sure that was in the fall

and that wasn't necessarily for Oregon

our high for new cases/day in April was 75; in may it was 78. We're heading for doubling that in a month

there would be a lot of resistance to more shutdowns, and IMO, some of the resistance is short-sighted, but some states may have little choice

I read a lot of articles that said the Second wave would come in September......we haven't traced or tested enough to know what the first wave has accomplished yet

Last thing I read from Fauci said we're at least a year away from seeing it start to fade...most countries say 18 months to 2 years

I CAN'T GO THAT LONG WITHOUT A HAIRCUT!
My wife has been cutting mine for the last 9 to 10 years. Costco has hair cutting kits, one of which has worked very well for us, for the last 9 - 10 years.

just think of yourself as a prisoner of war and get the concentration camp buzz cut...keep the fleas and lice away...do the time...dogs were bred for this stuff!

Dogs were bred for doing buzz cuts? I gotta see that dog in action. I think there may be buck in this for us if we play our cards right.

I finally succumbed on Saturday and gave myself the full buzz cut. I felt liked I again just walked out of the Navy Recruit Depot barber shop. Damn it’s short! But I’m loving it for the moment and I’m not sure I won’t keep it like this indefinitely. It will certainly save me money.....The only downside is that the young lady who cuts my hair is a drop dead gorgeous sweetheart. Damn I’ll miss her.....

WWE Wrestler Tests Positive For COVID-19
The coronavirus infects one of WWE's developmental talent.
I don't follow WWE at all, but I do have a co-worker that is married to a WWE wrestler, I have also met a couple in the past couple years at a golf course I frequent. NXT happens right down the street. One of them is a former OSU football player. I hope it isn't any of those, but it sucks that it's anyone.

In Oregon based on the increase of test the positives are still around 3.3% which is even lower than when they first started as they were only testing those with hardcore systems. The key will be how many hospital admissions and deaths too.

Oregon reports 278 coronavirus cases in one day, highest jump yet

According to the Oregon Health Authority, 365 people were tested at the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church over the weekend. Many results are still pending, and health officials expect the number to go up.

...

OHA also said it cannot confirm if the church was holding services leading to the rise in cases or if officials like the governor will intervene.

“I can’t speak specifically to the congregation. What I can say, in general, when we’ve received complaints or we’ve received concerns or we receive information, they do get referred to the appropriate entities," said Carrie Brogoitti, Union County public health administrator.

OHA said, anecdotally, it does believe those 99 positive cases included many asymptomatic cases.
