Can you tell me how Trump's words impacted the severity of the pandemic?

Sure. As the President there's a large portion of the country that believes anything he says. So when he consistently downplayed the virus (despite knowing the dangers back in Feb), politicized wearing a mask (at one point even suggested they may make it worse), criticized health experts who were contradicting him, went against CDC guidelines (said about wearing a mask, "I just don't want to wear one myself"), mocked people who wore masks, stated that the virus will simply "go away", insinuated that it was another democratic hoax, told people to not let it take over their lives because he got better and "you get over it", suggested injecting disinfectant into coronavirus patients as a potential cure, told Fox News in July "It is was it is", before going to play golf... it goes on and on.

Also, can you site any conclusive evidence that Hillary Clinton would have been more successful at fighting the pandemic?
Well any reasonable person would not have done any of the above which in and of itself should be enough. They would have simply listened to science and the medical experts. Any intelligent president would have had a nation-wide testing plan and contract tracing system like other countries. Wouldn't have held event after event, from the Whitehouse to his rallies, in which people weren't following the most basic of preventative measures. Wouldn't have visited a factory in Main which manufactured sterile cotton swabs for covid-19 and then refuse to wear a mask thus forcing them to toss out an entire days worth of swabs. A reasonable person wouldn't have abolished the Whitehouse pandemic response team in 2018. A reasonable person wouldn't have feuded with Governors pleading for help, sometimes even refusing to return their calls and saying, "I want them to be appreciative. If they don't treat you right, I don't call." A reasonable person wouldn't suggest that there's a shortage of respirators because nurses are stealing them. A reasonable person wouldn't have pressured states to open too soon despite none of them meeting the federal criteria for opening up. Wouldn't have tweeted "Liberate Michigan". Basically a reasonable person would have shown just a little interest in trying to get the virus under control instead of only pointing to a vaccine "coming soon" since March and claiming to be responsible for said vaccine despite having nothing to do with it. A reasonable person wouldn't have played golf 30 times since the pandemic started either. I'm not sure how many examples you require so I'll stop there.

right. So we should believe this post and not your prior actions? You sure spend a fair amount of time defending him.

I do spend a fair amount of time defending him. That's because much of the criticism is unwarranted. I am not a Trump fan though.

How about that Trump is responsible for 250K covid deaths?

Well, since we're up to about 280,000 deaths and counting, and may very well see about 500,000 dead around Spring time, "250K" will likely end up being a very conservative figure.

I've asked you 4-5 times now what you think a correct estimate is but you refuse to answer...why is that ?

T’was a Month Before Christmas 2020☃️⛄

T’was a month before Christmas,
And all through the town,
People wore masks,
That covered their frown.

The frown had begun
Way back in the Spring,
When a global pandemic
Changed everything.

They called it corona,
But unlike the beer,
It didn’t bring good times,
It didn’t bring cheer.

Contagious and deadly,
This virus spread fast,
Like a wildfire that starts
When fueled by gas.

Airplanes were grounded,
Travel was banned.
Borders were closed
Across air, sea and land.

As the world entered lockdown
To flatten the curve,
The economy halted,
And folks lost their verve.

From March to July
We rode the first wave,
People stayed home,
They tried to behave.

When summer emerged
The lockdown was lifted.
But away from caution,
Many folks drifted.

Now it’sDecember
And cases are spiking,
Wave two has arrived,
Much to our disliking.

Frontline workers,
Doctors and nurses,
Try to save people,
From riding in hearses.

It’s true that this year
Has had sadness a plenty,
We’ll never forget
The year 2020.

And just ‘round the corner -
The holiday season,
But why be merry?
Is there even one reason?

To decorate the house
And put up the tree,
When no one will see it,
No-one but me.

But outside my window
The snow gently falls,
And I think to myself,
Let’s deck the halls!

So, I gather the ribbon,
The garland and bows,
As I play those old carols,
My happiness grows.

Christmas ain’t cancelled
And neither is hope.
If we lean on each other,
I know we can cope.

I have told you before that I don't know what a correct estimate is. It might even be ZERO, who knows? 250K is just a ridiculous statement. The virus was already here by late November/early December. How do you think we were going to stop it?

Damn you China!
Just for that I'm swearing off tomato beef chow yuk and barbecued pork with Chinese mustard and sweet and sour sauce. Probably no more lo mien or beef chow mien with stir fried noodles and Sesame beef. Now that's gonna hurt. Worse yet, I won't buy my favorite beer, Tsingtao.

yes...saying trump is responsible for ALL the Covid deaths in the US is over-the-top hyperbole. On the other hand, considering that trump has spent years using way-over-the-top hyperbole to attack others, there's some rough justice in hammering that orange fucker with hyperbolic counter-punches. He deserves it, and I don't recall you spending any time defending the targets of trump's rhetoric, but maybe I missed it

if you're really interested in trying to derive a number of deaths accountable to trump, than Germany would be a good template. They are a populous nation, unlike Gilbralter or Belgium; 85 million. And while the US has a population density of 34 people/KM squared, Germany's density is 240 people/KM squared. So they have the additional logistical problem of a population density 7 times that of the US

The US has a death rate of 854/million. Germany has a death rate of 220/million. So, Germany's death rate is .2576 that of the US. Pretty clearly, that's because Germany doesn't have leadership and a sizable chunk of it's population denying science. They actually followed protocols advocated by public health experts, and they did it early

so then using Germany as the template and the USA's 283,842 deaths as the gauge, the US should only have 73,121 deaths. That would 'indicate' trump is responsible for 210,722 deaths.

but of course, even that might be a bit of excess hyperbole because Germany has socialized medicine. It has a much better health care system than the US, since again, it believes in science and also believes in social justice. So then, if trump is an advocate for a more socialized health care system you could mitigate his accountability a ways within that 211K death count. That's a laughable suggestion because trump stands on the opposite side of a just health care system

so yeah, call it over 200K deaths that trump's failed leadership is accountable for. And that number is climbing rapidly, and will continue to climb thru next year because trump is apparently trying to sabotage phase 2 of vaccine distribution that will occur under Biden

speaking of trump sabotage, apparently lots of concern he's trying to sabotage phase 2 of vaccine distribution, if only by inaction and refusing to fund any planning or coordination:

another trump clusterfuck for 2021 on the way

Not surprised! Don is going to make it as hard as he can on Joe Biden so that he won't be able to get very much if anything at all done in his term. Trump's plan is to make Biden look like a total joke as a president to only make himself look better. Then run again in 2024.

Again, nice dodge...I find hilarious that you tell others here that they're opinions on this are out of line yet when asked to produce something tangible in defense of your stance, you offer absolutely nothing but your opinion. ...sorry, but that's not a compelling argument at all.

You also claim that you're not a Trump fan which I find incredulous because your words indicate otherwise...I suggest that you rethink your strategy and quit trying to convince yourself that hospitals were not/are not "overwhelmed"...and that Trump's may be responsible for "ZERO" coronavirus deaths.

You even irrelevantly threw Hillary Clinton into the equation and asked if she would have done any better...well, all I can tell you is that you cannot prove a negative but since you brought it up, I'd be willing to say that Donald fucking Duck would have done a better job than Donald fucking Trump.

To much power, to old and she needs to go and allow someone else to lead.

Not a big fan of hers but she tried as best she could in both packages to insure that the money went to the people who needed it most, instead of the lion's share going to big business.

Besides, there's no guarantee that her successor will be any different than her.

Yeah no guarantee's... Term limits is needed imo, especially since congress can get much done and seems to so divided.

Thank you for sharing the article on Iowa. As an Iowan who lives in the area discussed in the article, the situation described is quite accurate and very alarming. To be fair to the Governor though, a few of the statements made in the article to make her look bad are not fully accurate.

Iowan's are are certain kind of special. Very kind hearted, will help a neighbor out in a time of need, go above and beyond to help people, strong work ethic, flat out hard workers...BUT many of those same Iowans won't wear a mask because Murica and have a tendency to be closet racists - of course not all, but definitely a large number. Not quite sure how all these attributes come together. I am stereotyping a lot, but feel I can provide that input as an Iowan.

I think it's fair to say that Trump is responsible for the vast majority of those deaths perhaps even the virtual majority.
