Only 291,557 Americans died fighting in WWII....covid beat that record in less than one year

Then-HHS science adviser Paul Alexander called for millions of Americans to be infected as means of fighting Covid-19.

A top Trump appointee repeatedly urged top health officials to adopt a "herd immunity" approach to Covid-19 and allow millions of Americans to be infected by the virus, according to internal emails obtained by a House watchdog and shared with POLITICO.

“There is no other way, we need to establish herd, and it only comes about allowing the non-high risk groups expose themselves to the virus. PERIOD," then-science adviser Paul Alexander wrote on July 4 to his boss, Health and Human Services assistant secretary for public affairs Michael Caputo, and six other senior officials.

"Infants, kids, teens, young people, young adults, middle aged with no conditions etc. have zero to little risk….so we use them to develop herd…we want them infected…" Alexander added.

"t may be that it will be best if we open up and flood the zone and let the kids and young folk get infected" in order to get "natural immunity…natural exposure," Alexander wrote on July 24 to Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn, Caputo and eight other senior officials. Caputo subsequently asked Alexander to research the idea, according to emails obtained by the House Oversight Committee's select subcommittee on coronavirus.

Alexander also argued that colleges should stay open to allow Covid-19 infections to spread, lamenting in a July 27 email to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield that “we essentially took off the battlefield the most potent weapon we had...younger healthy people, children, teens, young people who we needed to fastly [sic] infect themselves, spread it around, develop immunity, and help stop the spread.”

You can’t sue Pfizer or Moderna if you have severe Covid vaccine side effects. The government likely won't compensate you for damages either

KEY POINTS
  • Under the PREP Act, companies like Pfizer and Moderna have total immunity from liability if something unintentionally goes wrong with their vaccines.
  • A little-known government program provides benefits to people who can prove they suffered serious injury from a vaccine.
  • That program rarely pays, covering just 29 claims over the last decade.

New Covid-19 strain features 17 mutations sparking fears vaccine won't work
The new variant features 17 alterations to the original coronavirus strain, many of them to the virus's spike protein which vaccines are being developed to target

The new strain of Covid-19 has 17 mutations, scientists have discovered.

UK experts have been analysing the new variant of coronavirus and say they have uncovered 17 alterations from the original strain of the killer disease, which they described as "a lot".

Many of the changes have happened to the virus's spike protein, which it uses to latch onto human cells and cause illness.

This is significant because most Covid-19 vaccines being developed, including the Pfizer jab that has already begun to be rolled out in the UK, are effective by targeting this protein.

It is feared this could stop people becoming immune to coronavirus if they have been infected with a different strain than the vaccine can protect them against.

Vaccine will make the COVID-19 stronger as it adapts!

King of Sweden says country 'failed' in its Covid response – video

The king of Sweden said his country's handling of the coronavirus pandemic had been a failure and sharply criticised policies partly blamed for a high death toll among elderly people.

Carl XVI Gustaf used an annual royal Christmas television address to highlight the growing impact of the virus as hospitals in the Stockholm region warned they were struggling to cope with a surge in cases and polls showed public confidence in the authorities had plunged

So with the various stay-at-home and mask orders now having been around for about 9 months, it prompts a question: Do we call babies who were conceived around March and born in December/January "pandemic babies?"

Or maybe just babies conceived during that time? Or both.

Idaho called up the National Guard to help medical staff battle covid.

The Guard will help at testing sites and do facility decontamination work. Releasing trained staff to spend more time treating the critically ill.

I think we'll probably refer to them as hellish mutants with six legs and eyes on stalks.

Given the uncertainty about employment, hospital access, possible evictions, lack of food, etc., I think most folks first referred to them as, "Oh, crap!"

Sweden's king has said his country "failed" to save lives with its relatively relaxed approach to the coronavirus pandemic.

King Carl XVI Gustaf made the remarks as part of an annual TV review of the year
with the royal family.

Sweden, which has never imposed a full lockdown, has seen nearly 350,000 cases and more than 7,800 deaths - a lot more than its Scandinavian neighbours.

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said he agreed with the king's remarks.

"Of course the fact that so many have died can't be considered as anything other than a failure," Mr Lofven told reporters.

Referring to the government's strategy, Mr Lofven added that "it's when we are through the pandemic that the real conclusions can be drawn".

Mitch McConnell on deck to get his Covid vaccine. The guy who has fucked up so much and so many, delaying a stimulus bill, didn’t wear a mask for months. Hard for me to put into words how mad this makes me. I hope he has a horrendous reaction to it and dies. Piece of shit.

boy they really moved quickly to protect their citizens....

they being the Idaho government

Agree, I have been very impressed with the actions taken by the Idaho gov. They were making plans before we had our first covid case. But....

It is a large group of irresponsible people that refuse to obey simple rules, such as when and where to wear a mask in public, that have have caused a rapid increase in cases here.
