America needs a strong federal response for the public to see that their government has their backs. Trump telling everyone to "sit tight" while they work through their plan for this crisis won't calm anyone's fears and are only making things worse. If Trump wants the stock market to go up, he needs to roll out widespread testing, people want it now, they wanted it weeks ago damnit.

He Made it home, so far he isn't sick and tested negative. Still was advised to quarantine for two weeks.

1st responders are going to get overwhelmed. Reducing some of the regular non-virus related calls will help everyone.

But also, different areas trying different things could help. There is no set playbook for this. Something like a curfew is even easier to stop than it is to start if it doesn't work.

  • New Jersey is enacting a curfew of 8pm until 5am - people should only leave their homes for essential travel between those hours
  • The governor did not define what 'essential travel' was or what will happen to anyone who does leave their home between those hours without an excuse
  • Cuomo wants Trump to issue shut down rules to bars and restaurants across the country but is frustrated that he won't
  • There are now more than 4,000 cases in America, 950 in the state of New York and more than 300 in New York City
  • 71 people have died but all experts and officials say numbers will continue to rise drastically
  • Trump said on Monday the current crisis could last until August but said he was not considering a lockdown

At some point we have to think about what dangers there are and how many lives will be cut short by social isolation, halting the economy, and all of that. Yeah the virus is deadly and should be taken seriously, but many people are going to die because their caretakers stopped showing up, they couldn't get necessities, couldn't afford basic medical supplies (maybe couldn't even find it because of "preppers" and "hoarders"). Were not just opening the can of worms, were basically hitting it with an m80 and just seeing where the parts fall.

Then the long term ramifications of an economic collapse as well, yeah there are rich people who abuse the economy to make millions, but when the working class and poor basically can't afford to eat, people will die.

he thought he'd boost the economy by shuttling out CEOs from a bunch of companies right before market close on Friday. those gains immediately after were quite short lived.

You all should tune into what NJ Governor Phil Murphy did. He called a State of Emergency and presented a Leaders role, with his cabinet people presenting facts. He will implement more stringent steps but he is candid and real. At least, no BS like we see from the Donald.

Effective midnight, Alameda county in three weeks lockdown. They exempt grocery stores, which will probably be packed. I am well stocked between freezer, pantry and garden. Just baked bread. But only have two stamps!

Of course Trump gave himself a 10. Stupid question. According to him he has never made a mistake, never been wrong, never done anything wrong, everything he has ever done is perfect, and if anything goes wrong it's someone else's fault.

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced Monday afternoon that she plans to ban gatherings of more than 25 people for at least a month and restrict restaurants and other establishments to serving takeout and delivery food only.

Exemptions to the ban include grocery stores, pharmacies, retail stores and workplaces, Brown said in her prepared remarks at a press conference in northeast Portland.

At the same time, Brown urged Oregonians to avoid being around more than 10 people at a time and suggested businesses that can shut down completely should do so.

"Can your business do the equivalent of restaurant takeout?” Brown asked. "If you cannot do that, I strongly urge you to close your doors to customers temporarily.”
