I remember walking around downtown Portland and seeing signs directing people to Civil Defense bomb shelters. This was in the late 50s, early 60s. We were all afraid of the Russians.

Ive got Russians and Ukrainians on my street. Super nice people and they get along very well, at least it seems that way. Their kids plays together.

I had Russians installed my hardwood floors a few years back. And Ukrainians put my roof on.
 
Sad that somebody would think kids trying to keep others safe is a negative thing.

While this is crazy, and it's Hong Kong, not mainland China, it's standard operating procedure to have people and bodies in random places in and near the hospital. First year in China, went to the local hospital to find a friend who fainted and was rushed to the hospital. Just wandered around looking for them, made it to the roof even, happened to open a door to a room and see a dead body just propped up in the corner, no big deal.

It's the same in the Moda Center, if you go down to the basement you'll see guys that the team supposedly "traded" in piles on the floor.

It's great to see as the mid-term primaries are approaching, that numbers are going down and mandates are being lifted ... I'm sure there's no correlation between the two.

All you need to do is google covid19 us - and you get the following - this is the reason the mandates are being lifted - because the cases are going down after the mandates helped. There is no conspiracy, it's just good old fashioned science and numbers.

It's tongue in cheek for the most part but I don't think the mandates have helped all that much or we would have been out of this mess a long time ago. More likely we are coming out of cold/flu/covid season (yes it's time to add it to the mix) plus some other factors but I also struggle to think the mandates are being ditched so quickly for anything other than political reasons. Sorry but in the game of politics, self preservation seems to be the name of the game, and any incumbent holding onto these mandates was going to face an uphill battle. Maybe it's all coincidence but my cynical mind finds that hard to believe.
