a couple of write-ups about where Oregon stands. One is on the virus, it's spread, and a relaxing of restrictions:

the other is about how the State budget is in the shitter:

it's safe to assume that county and city budgets are in similar situations

The thing is when businesses do open back up all it takes in one case to make a business shut back down. Other businesses in the same area might be thinking twice. I wonder how many businesses will be experiencing this?

edit: maybe we can make all visitors wear a unlockable flashing bracelet with a "T" for tourist, lol?
second edit: now i worry about an equivalence between my "T" tourist bracelet and the star of david marker on clothing in the third riech and no longer laughing.

I'm not sure how practical this is, but I wouldn't compare it to the yellow badge. The yellow badge was meant to single out members of the community for no reason but bigotry. Virtually no one has to be traveling right now--choosing to do so during a pandemic means agreeing to these sorts of quarantines, which need to be enforced in some way. I don't see anything particularly sinister about highlighting people who are supposed to be quarantining themselves for everyone's safety, especially when they probably shouldn't be traveling right now (maybe there's a 1 person in a thousand who has a really good, necessary reason to be traveling to Hawai'i right now).

They still need to concentrate on the hot spots still. I don't see why measures to stop movement shouldn't be INCREASED in regions like larger, northern east coast cities, while relaxing them in other areas. Seal off New York City. Have martial law in Boston, Detroit, New Orleans,

This should be done on a micro level.

What is the opposite? Letting cars drive on the sidewalks?

barfo

Nah, let less people out on the streets. Isolated in cars > encouraging people to be out walking around and biking on streets with the goal of "social distancing".

Agreed. Just as Governor Cuomo can’t escape culpability for sending infected seniors back to nursing homes. 43% of all New York Deaths were from Senior Citizens.

Cuomo has absolutely nothing to do with Trump's accountability...but that seems to be the MO with Trump and most of his supporters. Whenever anything negative is said about him, they either bring up Obama, or Hillary, or change the subject.

No they can't. It is a fucked up decision to do that, and I disagree with it. There is high risk that other residents of nursing homes without Covid-19 could easily contract it and possibly die. I could see this if the nursing home was Covid-19 patients only. But yeah, as is it's a devastating choice.

However, it doesn't vindicate Trump. His fuck ups regarding the coronavirus have been on a far greater scale. One doesn't justify the other.

Any word on how cannibals are doing during the coronavirus?

Yep, Cuomo has everything to do with his own accountability of sending infected seniors to nursing homes. That’s on him.
