Not this year...most crops are already in the ground or ripe and rotting in the field.

Yep. Well, not much you can do about that now. Hopefully they develop machines that can pick crops like the migrants do.

high tech farming is the future! :Sly:

They do have such machine for some crops most most still have to be picked by hand.

What other form of government do you propose? If the states are independent, there will still be a majority and a minority within the state. Probably if you make each household an independent country, there will still be divisions because the kids will want a later bedtime.

The tension between majority and minority has always existed in this country, and it exists in every other country too. The only way I see to cure it is get rid of all the humans.

In smaller populations, minorities can be much louder with their needs and not get drowned out. Also, geography plays a big role in what people need from their government.
Democracy is fine, but it seems to fall apart the more people and voices there are.

You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille
With four hundred children and just rot in the field
I've had some bad times, lived through some SAD! times
But this time covid-19 won't heal
You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille

RIP Kenny.

From where?....Trump has taken care of that for us.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/busi...mworkers-visas-food-supply-chain-coronavirus/

American farmers are bracing for a shortage of seasonal workers following the State Department’s suspension of routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa processing in Mexico, including for temporary migrant laborers, beginning Wednesday.

The delay in visa processing for farmworkers comes just as harvest season begins in Florida. Companies responsible for feeding the country are already expecting fewer available workers to manufacture, deliver and unpack groceries as the coronavirus pandemic intensifies.

The seafood industry, including fisheries and crab-picking in Maryland, whose hiring season starts in April, will also be affected by the U.S. government’s decision.
There's plenty of people sitting on their asses at home with nothing better to do... But the majority of people think they are 'too good' to do that type of work.

I have grandkids that could catch the berry & bean bus at 4:30 am every morning.

There may be some crops that are close to being ripe this time of year... but not the majority.

The majority of the US is just beginning Spring and starting to warm up. Most crops will not be ripe until mid-summer.

We are not united now though. In fact, trying to force this "unity" through majority rules and tells minorities to shove off has the opposite effect on unity.
I'm going to have to say it but this is just wildly ridiculous. It's exactly what Abraham Lincoln went to war over.
No we are not diverging. Not now, not ever.
We have much much much, infinitely more in common than we have that divides us. Yes, US!

I caught that bus when I was 10, 11 and 12. Took it from Oswego to Gresham to pick strawberries. Spent every penny on junk food that I would eat on the way home from hours of swimming in the lake. I'd get home from picking strawberries, immediately hop on my bike and head for the lake.

This has promise. Let's start with this proposal and refine it. How about getting rid of all humans except me and those I personally like? That could work.
I would modify that to getting rid of all the men and ugly women. I would also get rid of all the children which can be a nuisance when engaging in verbal and physical intercourse with one or MORE of those beautiful women. Yahoo, more.

Nah, you'd want a complete dictatorship. I mean, just look at your moniker.

Course the population then was closer to 70m in the us back then instead of approaching 350m. Their was also only like 35 states at the end of the civil war. My point is things change. What worked or didnt work in the 1860’s might not be working today. Interesting you bring up the civil war though, since apparently they felt they had enough differences to kill each other over back then.

Same here from Milwaukie to Damascus.
