My summer vacation this year takes me to Costa Rica. I actually wasn't that excited to go, but was convinced by my travel mates. I got to say, I'm impressed.
Staying in Manuel Antonio in a four story treehouse (no joke). As I type right now I am on the 4th floor in an open space living area with a sloth about 50 feet from me hanging out in a tree (hasn't moved for 2 hours now).
First day we decided just to hit up the local beach. On the short drive I saw many different species monkeys, iguanas and lord knows what other animals I saw. The ocean was beautiful and the warmest ocean water I have ever swam in. Hung out with locals. played some soccer on the beach and body surfed til i was ready to drop.
If there is any unpleasant surprise is this place is not cheap. Very tourist oriented with tourist prices. Parasailing was 100 (for two people), tomorrow a 3 hour jungle cruise for 75 per person. Not shockingly expensive, but not third world prices either. Food hasn't been cheap either, but haven't canvased our area yet for local eats.
Other posters have had realizations and appreciation for this board. I am jumping on that band wagon. So far I love Costa Rica and wanted to share with someone. Immediately I thought of this board . . . strangely enough this board has become part of my life. So thanks to all on this board and allowing me to share.
If I figure it out I will post pictures. For now, time for a costa rica beer (imperial) and catching up on the Blazers.
