Pava-NO was a Butt Bust. I never ever heard of any player in MLB History, going on the DL for falling on his ass/butt.
Brown, what a dick...! 3 years in L.A. prior, and had 1, maybe 1 1/2 decent years in L.A., but was a bust in L.A. overall. Couldn't believe my ears, when NY signed the idiot.
Buhner definitely should of been kept in NY. HR power to all Fields.
Ed Whitson downright stunk. Could never win in NY, or handle the crowd of NY, a litmus test for greatness, and Ed failed miserably.
I would of not let Reggie walk either. Although I enjoyed seeing Reggie play in Anaheim, he should of retired a Yankee, not an Angel.
I was glad to see Rickey Henderson become a Yankee, but even happier to see Rickey go back to Oakland.
I enjoyed seeing the likes of Gooden, Strawberry, Sheffiled, Justice, Sierra, don pinstripes, although they were but shadows of their former glory years and self's. Doc did throw a No Hitter in the Bronx, and the others put fear in opposing pitchers, getting some key hits, and Post Season power. I would of thought twice about obtaining Cecil Fielder, and Jesse Barfield, (Barfield came at to steep a price, by trading away Leiter, who would throw his first No-No in Toronto, I mentioned Leiter already, cant' say it enough either).
And of course, we got the great Ichiro, one of the greatest hitters in his prime, of all time, tho' his prime is up, not many players can do what Ichiro can at his age. Another HOF'er to be in our midst, to bad the Yanks couldn't of landed him in 2000. But he is no Derek Jeter either. He is Ichiro San, 2nd in rifle arm caliber in his prime, only behind Roberto Clemente.
I was thrilled as a kid, to see Wetteland depart to Texas, allowing MO' to step in and become the great HOF'er he was. Flash Gordon was a great set up man in his day as well. A better set up man, than he was a Starter, with KC and Boston, IMHO.
I enjoyed seeing the likes of Jimmy Key, David Cone, David Wells, Roger Clemens, Mike Mussina, coming to the Yankees, what a SP staff those 90s on Bronx Kings had. One of my all time favorite moments in Yankee History, was seeing Boomer wearing a game used Babe Ruth Cap. Recall-Wells pitched one inning before Torre made him remove it.
By the time he donned PinStripes, Randy Johnson IMO, was a shadow of the Great Pitcher he once was, A sad way to end a career, hanging on too long, never able to extend his reign of greatness, never showing glimpses of a 5 Time Cy Young Record Holder.
Torre was no doubt one of my favorite Mgrs. to come to the Bronx. I also loved Sweet Lou as a Mgr. The only Mgr. who ever showed Donnie Baseball, what he was doing wrong, when he rarely slumped. I never would of fired Pinella either.
I don't think Lemon should of been fired, and Martin hired and fired 5 times, WTF- revealed King George's lack of prowess, and a addiction to Press Headlines.
Man I could do this all day long, into the night....(but I'm trying to keep replies to 20 words or less).....
