Could this team have some turmoil in the locker room???

As has been pointed out in a story about LaMarcus, he makes black and white decisions (no gray areas) and judges people on their actions, not their apologies. Blazers mgmt. may have already blown it with their disrespect and belittling of what he means to the team.

Let's face it, anything less than Roy gets is an insult. Awesome SG's are a dime a dozen. We have 2 for example. If we lost Roy, Rudy would step in and we'd probably improve rather than slide..

Talented PF's are a much rarer breed. If we lost LaMarcus, we'd be up a creek without a paddle, probably for years.

You know, I can buy that your rabid fandom of Sergio blinded your judgment when it came to Sergio.

But THIS, this is just...do you really believe what you are saying? I can't...I just can't...

there are more pfs in the league better than aldridge than there are players in the league better than roy.

EDIT: Typed this up before I read the "Roy on Rudy" thread. Much of what I wrote is also talked about in that thread.

Good points in the OP, MIXUM.

For the PG situation, I think that'll be the toughest at first (returning players unsure of the first "big" acquisition we've had of an "outsider"). But I think once camp starts and the guys start playing, most will see the value of Miller and Blake based on how they play, not how they conduct summer interviews. And at that point it will be purely a minutes crunch, rather than a splitting-the-team issue. To give Blake credit, I haven't heard/seen any sniping or bitterness coming from him publicly.

For the SG, Rudy and/or Roy will have to get out-of-position minutes for Rudy to be happy and utilized best for the team. Personally, I think he's better suited to be on the floor as a 1/2 rather than making Brandon be a 2/3 in a smallball lineup, especially since I'd like to have Batum or Webs at the 3 at almost all times for defensive purposes. I think that, aside from turnover issues from trying to make too fancy of a pass sometimes, Rudy's got the tools to be a playmaker and shooter for us--fulfilling Blake's role in the offense from last year better than Blake can.

At the SF, I'd really like to see what Martell is able to do, and I'm optimistic that he'll be able to win the starting job. If he doesn't, that means that Nic beat him out with strong play, and I don't mind that either. 40-42 min or so from Webs/Batum at the 3 would be ok by me. And I don't think the team cares as much, since as you pointed out, they seem to like both guys.

Since I have to be contrarian at some point, I'd bring up that two of our biggest offseason needs (upgraded play at the 3 and at PG) seem to have been taken care of with getting Miller while Batum and (hopefully) Webster have improved their play. But as a lot of the preseason articles are pointing out, we're a bit thin at the 4/5. LMA/Oden/Przy are all high-quality players. But LMA is really our only 4/5. Oden and Przy can only play C. If an injury to one of the 3 happens, I don't like that we're relying on Howard to play 4/5 (or playing more Outlaw at 4 and LMA at 5). I think that's one reason we went after Millsap and drafted JP. I think I'd still like to see if there's someone like Okafor or Horford (probably dreams) or maybe Noah or Brandon Wright available--a younger, 4/5 type that's proven (probably already being paid big bucks) that can solidify a 3-man rotation of LMA/Oden/X for us, so that even if one of the 3 goes down with injury we still have 2 solid starters at the 4 and 5, and can fill backups in from there. Right now, we don't.

The all-star rosters of the past two years convincingly contradict your assertion.

The only real chemistry concerns I have are Bayless and Outlaw.

It's been a long and mediocre offseason. Posters will laugh over the notion of Blake starting over Miller a month from now, just as the rest of the league is probably laughing about it right now. Yet, because of the long offseason, we talk about it as if it were really an issue.

??

I don't pretend to be the voice for everyone. Everyone has their own view and perspective on things. But based on the things I have heard or read, this somewhat is becoming clear.
"becoming clear" implies that everyone should be seeing the same obvious thing. Are you sensing anyone else here sharing your epiphany that Brandon is pulling the strings for this team? If someone were to start a poll asking who is the Blazer puppetmaster, I'm pretty sure it would be KP in a landslide.

to your OP on Travis, if the right deal comes along for him I've no doubt that TO will be moved.... same goes for half the roster. There is an obvious minutes crunch looming and regardless of friendships the club absolutely will have to trim down the rotation from 11 deep. If Travis is ultimately moved at the midseason trade deadline it won't be because BR is no longer his buddy.

A lot of it has to do with where you are at in life. If you come at it from the mindset that all you think about is getting more money, or getting more fame, then you are more going to lean toward, I want to start, I want this, I want that. But someone like myself, I’ve come to a point now where I have a family, and I’ve been in the league 6 years,’’ Blake said. “It’s not about the money, it’s about winning. I’ve spent 6 years without a championship and I don’t want to spend another 6 years not winning one. So if it makes the team better for me to come off the bench, then I will do it. But, do I want to start? I think everyone wants to start. But if you accept your role, for what coach thinks would be best, that is what will be best for the team. Things work themselves out.’’

Steve Blake quote above. Too bad all athletes cant see things like Blake.

It is good that everyone wants to start. I am sure some would be happy not starting, but playing 30 minutes a game like Manu. Not thinking a player accepting any role the team has for him reflects well on his competitiveness.

As Michael Jordan showed with his HOF acceptance speech, it is not always High School Musical behind the scenes in a winning lockerroom. Channing Frye and Sergio both were pretty vocal about not being happy with their role last year. It did not deter the team from having a good season.

I hope it just results in the Blazers being the aggressor a few more times this year instead of always reacting after being punched in the mouth.

joel, rudy, bayless, and miller worry me

those 4 guys i could see pouting.

who cares about bayless anyway.. he stinks

Yeah I must have missed that today when Brandon told Quick he doesn't want to play with Miller and refuses to play with anybody but his bestest buddies on the team.

Fuck that selfish prick.

All kidding and hyperbole aside, Roy may not be selfish, but he is opinionated. When he was on the floor with Jack, you could see from his expressions and body language that he was often unhappy. I have no doubt he was instrumental in getting Jack traded. (Zach as well)

Of course, favoring Blake over Jack is a bit different than favoring Blake over Miller. I would hope Roy is smart enough to see the difference!

BTW, you wany turmoil? Look at GSW.

Forget the "Jackson wants to be traded" controversy. Monta Ellis loudly, publicly tells the media he CAN'T play with Curry. Not that he has reservations, or that they aren't comfortable yet - he absolutely and permanently slammed the door on being on the same court with the teams #1 draft pick!

I feel really sorry for the Warriors fans.
