Outside of eFG/TS% (both impacted by Lillard's high 3PA) and win shares, how exactly has Lillard outperformed Westbrook? Seems like Westbrook has more points, assists and steals, and a higher PER.

The number isn't that much higher, but Killard's TS%/eFG% are much higher. And Win Share is one of the best indicators for Allstars, IMO. Isn't an all-star supposed to be the reason the teams are winning ball games?

I think if both Killard and Aldridge are playing at the same level until the All Star break, they are guaranteed a all-star spot. I think the Dark Horse is Matthews and Batum. That's if they end towards the all-star break with 38-40 wins.

Westbrook's also outrebounding Lillard by a significant margin (5.8 to 3.7). His assist percentage is nearly 10 points higher (35.1 to 25.3). And he's also playing slightly fewer minutes, so the per/36 comparison is even more in Westbrook's favor.

I could see the wins being a big deal if OKC were fighting for a playoff spot. But they're also a top-3 team, so that's probably not going to be a major consideration for one or against the other.

My point is, it's not as clear-cut as you want it to be. If Lillard starts hitting shots in the lane, then it'll be a different story. Until then, he and RW will be neck-and-neck for an all-star berth, and RW's rep and national profile will probably earn him the nod over Sub-Zero.

I do believe that Westbrook is a shoe in, but I definitely don't agree that it's some blow out reason. Lillard has a edge over Parker, IMO; and a huge edge over Curry. There is no chance that Killard doesn't make it if he and his team keep this production up until the all-star break.

Blow-out reason? I believe I said "neck-and-neck".

I wonder if there's any chance that Duncan doesn't make the team.

Not saying you. The general consensus of this forum.

I doubt Duncan doesn't make it. He's on the second best team in the west. They need at least one or two all-stars

We have the stats as well. Aldridge is the best performing big and dame has better stats than Curry, Parker and even Westbrook.

He does not have better stats than Westbrook, he has less turnovers, a higher ft% and a higher 3pt% that is it.

Westbrook 21.0 PPG .411 FG% 5.8 REB 6.7 AST 1.9 STL 20.45 PER
Lillard 20.7 PPG .399 FG% 3.7 REB 5.8 AST .7 STL 20.05 PER

He is also not posting better numbers than Curry

Curry 24.3 PPG .465 FG% 4.2 REB 9.0 AST 1.8 STL 24.57 PER

His numbers are better than Parker but he still has to compete with Dragic, and Bledsoe.

He compares pretty closely with them minus FG% which is terrible. Biggest issue might be his sub .400 FG% and the extra 2 points in PER he is giving up to Bledsoe or the 1.5 he is giving up to Dragic.

Guess you missed all the Advanced Stats I posted. Rookie mistake, thinking only fan-type numbers only count

IMO, the guards that are mortal locks are Paul, Kobe, Curry, and Harden, and the frontcourt locks are Durant, Griffin, Howard, Love, Dirk, and Aldridge

The Spurs will have one all-star. Whether Parker or Duncan, I don't know. That will make 11, with one each for us, OKC, and SAS. I think we would have to be a solid 3 games ahead of the Spurs and Thunder in the standings for Lillard to get in over a second guy from either of those squads.

I was thinking about Dirk..... do you really think he's a lock at this point though?

Wouldn't have listed him if I didn't. He has a TS% over 60, a PER over 23, WS/48 of almost .2 on a better than expected team. He's putting up his best numbers since his title season. He's in.

So many bigs though....

Howard
Griffin
Aldridge
Love
Duncan

The funny thing, to me, is that there are no centers anymore. There aren't any centers or shooting guards. Kobe is getting in because of the fans, so Harden is the only guy who is making it on his own efforts. It's all point guards and power forwards.

And that's why it's even a discussion. Do you remember Duncan or Dirk going in as a center, just so they can try to shoehorn players into the right positions? As it stands now, it's just backcourt and frontcourt, irrespective of "position". I'd much rather an all star team with 4 deserving point guards and 5 deserving power forwards than a squad that includes Batum and Pekovic because they happen to be the second-best in the conference at their positions.

I hear what you're saying, but I don't think they should have done away with the "center" spot for All-Stars. I think that position involves so many things that don't show up in a box score, and a guy like Rolo doesn't get the credit he deserves. He might not average 20 points, but he has been so vital to what we're doing. Does he deserve to be an All-Star? He's likely never going to average the 20 and 10 he'd need to be an All-Star, so I wish they'd give AT LEAST a couple spots to centers.

The first sign a veteran has been in the game too long the overlook obvious stuff.

Like Curry murders Lillard in all your advanced stats. TS% 60.3 to 56.6, 24.57 PER to 20.05, efg% .555 to .491 WS 4 to 3.7 plus in the traditional stats is also not close.

He also trails Bledsoe and Dragic most of your advance stats so while the Advanced numbers make Lillard more comparable with Westbrook he likely will not get selected over him.

Is someone saying that Dame will be chosen over Curry or Westbrook? I think I said those two were most likely locks. I think Lillard can beat out Parker, and I highly doubt Dragic or Bledsoe make it.

I am not sure on that most people thought the Suns would be the worst or second worst team in the NBA not competing for the playoffs. Bledsoe and Dragic are both putting up great numbers so if the Suns continue to win I would certainly think they would garner consideration.
