I don't have a twitter account -- someone ask one of them to defend the Faried/Smith pick!

*Looking for a up-and-coming coach: Mike Malone is a strong candidate. Would be a smart hire according to Jason Quick. Could lose out on some strong candidates the longer they go on without a GM.

*Mike Malone wants to coach in Portland.

*Toronto could troll Portland's cap situation by frontloading an offer.

LOL which talking head said that?

Of course this management team would have such a mediocre PG on their radar.

:-/

No Doubt...I like George Hill a lot more than Daren Collison......

Quick nailed it (re: LMA):

The very best-case scenario is he's a second option on a title contending team.

Offer him max money. Don't resign Batum. Fill holes with the draft picks.

He won't be a free agent for another year, right? So you're saying let Batum and Hickson go and don't sign anyone this summer on the chance that we might be able to A) convince him to sign our offer sheet and B) the Thunder won't match?

That's pretty risky.

I would let Batum go. We have greater needs.

If we let Batum go, we suddenly have a need at SF... is that a position you instantly fill with a #6 or #11 draft pick? Disregarding money, who is the best FA small forward this summer?

Not a lot out there. Barnes in the draft would be the best bet, IMO

So if the Raptors frontload an offer to him, and it eats up all our cap space this summer, you'd still sign Batum? That means we come away with nothing, we have holes at point guard and center, and no money to fill them. I would rather let him go than pay him 15 million next season, and that would clear another 5 million in cap space, so we could sigh someone like Dragic AND another forward.

I see Barnes as a Danny Granger clone in the NBA, I'd pass

Why would you pass on a Danny Granger clone? Danny Granger is better than Batum and would easily be our 2nd best player.

Also, Barnes would be cheap for the next four years.

It might be smart to go this route, but only if Beal isn't available. We need a closer. We need a scorer. If it's true that the Raptors are planning on fucking with our cap space, we should really think about covering our ass.

If we went this rout I'd try to trade up for MKG but would definitely throw the most we could at Eric Gordon.

But I still prefer a Beal/Marshall draft.

I really like a Beal/Marshall draft too. I'm not convinced Beal will drop that far though. MKG worries me. Jeff Green was another small forward that everyone said was an "intangibles" guy. I think Gordon is a pipe dream. I don't see the new owner in NOR letting their only star player go for nothing.

If Granger is better than Batum it's not by much, and When Granger was Batum's age, he was obviously worse than Batum at the same age. Barnes would most likely have the same developmental grace period, and I'd pass on that.
