Courtside on now

- In regards to the best friend thing between Roy-Travis and Sergio-Rudy and whether they wouldn't get rid of them because of that, KP said it plays a little part but it doesn't factor into any decisions in the end. Guys have to fit into the team now. They know they're a 54-win team now and they have to fit in with what being a Blazer is all about.

End interview.

Obviously, if didn't help Greg's buddy in the end.

- KP feels the team will have to compete with other Euro teams in regards to Joel Freeland. He hurt his ankle midseason but came back and was 8-10 FG and had 10 rebounds in a game. Freeland had a 'really, really good year' and is a 'really good prospect' but there might be competition for his services.

Ha! There is no way in HELL that Portland wouldn't get him if Portland wanted him (assuming that he doesn't already have a buyout). That sounds like Pritchard's not really that interested.

Freeland should get good experience playing for GB, provided Deng is no longer injured and Ben Gordon's contract situation is sorted. He might be behind Pops Mensah-Bonsu though (they've both got similar games and I think both play C for GB).

I wonder if Sergio might get back in the Spanish national team. He certainly deserves it at least as much as Raul Lopez, although Lopez probably gets home-country favoritism for playing for Real Madrid. And Sergio Llull would probably be next in line for the same reason.

How do you figure? He's a first round draft pick. As such, we're limited in what we could offer him. A European club could offer him a lot more money. For a lot of guys, it is about playing against the best, like Rudy, but if he was to make 4 million a year over there, he could very easily stay for that over 800,000 per here.

Love the fact that Roy and LA are priority 1 and 1A. At least Pritchard knows what the most important part of the offseason will be.

I've read interviews. He wants the NBA bad. And, especially given the economic downturn, it's very unlikely he'd be offered more money than a rookie contract. He's not a Rudy - he still isn't starting for Gran Canaria. And finally, he's not a Fran Vasquez either: there's no league worth shit in his (my) home country, so it's a choice between a foreign country where he doesn't speak the language and the USA, a foreign country where he does.

They're going back to the G.O. thing and whether he should be in Portland to work out. Rice is old-school and wants him to be in Portland, while the rest of the crew doesn't think it matters.

Wheels: "You're going to deny his right to an education?"

Rice: "Yes!"

I wouldn't mind seeing Freeland come over. He wouldn't be any worse as a 15th man than Shavlik was, and we'd be able to develop him or see if he's capable of playing in this league.

Being in Portland might compound his pressure, even in the off=season. Going back to school might be the best thing for him.

Just being pragmatic here, but what the hell is the point of Greg going to Summer school? Seriously, is he going to summer school every year for the next 8 years to get his degree or what? Those credits do have a shelf life.

Why not just finish your career, and go back to school when you're 35 or whatever. Not like he'll have to financial aid. LOL!

At that time, he'll know what he wants to do and can concentrate just on school. Seems to me like he just misses college life.

Getting back home is a good thing, especially for him I agree. I just hope he works out and gets in really really good shape. Playing ball against whomever at Ohio State won't be enough.

- Rice and Wheels thinks there's going to be a trade, and a top-seven rotation player that will be brought in.

- MB, of course, doesn't believe so and loves this group. And Rice calls him out saying MB is the kind of guy that probably didn't want Jordan because we had Clyde. haha.

Ok, so with Martell coming back, that's going to squeeze the minutes even more. Rudy was getting extra time with Roy playing the 3 but now we'll have Webster at Batum at the 3. The only minutes for Outhouse is backing up the 4. Or will Batum get squeezed out of the rotation?

I'd rather cut Outlaw and Blake, and use that money to sign two big free agents, like Artest and Miller.

Miller/Bayless
Roy/Rudy
Artest/Webster
LA/Batum
Oden/Pryzbilla

Batum at powerforward = Failure.

Whatever it is, i hope bayless gets to run the team, or at least get as many minutes as sergio did.

Also hope that Outlaw is removed for a big fat banger.
we got enuff finesse guys

The big thing I got out of it was that the team seems intent on keeping Outlaw and Blake around, barring some remarkable trade offer. KP and Nate and the gang love those two it seems.

That's what he wants us, and everyone else, to think.

Would he be any worse than Travis? At least he can rebound and play defense. Lots of teams play untraditional line ups. We could also play Artest at some backup PF.

Yes, he's worse. For one, he's even skinnier and weaker than Outlaw. Secondly, guarding powerforwards is not the same as guarding SFs, SGs, and PGs. Thirdly, he's unable to take advantage on the offensive end since he has little offensive game at all.

MB saying Houston fans by the bench were yelling the 'n' word at Martell, and the security people didn't know what to do with them. But Webster handled it well.

WOW, that pisses me off more than anything...Even more than Greg working on school instead of bball..lol

Awe, come on, they're almost exactly the same size. Travis has no power what so ever. He can't even take a little PG down in the low post. He's only effective against jump shooting PFs like Barnagi.

It's not like Batum will be facing many great low post threats coming off people's benches. A great many PFs these days are long athletic times, that like to face up rather than post. That lineup could get up and down the court, and could out-run people.

We'd also have other options like bringing Artest off the bench to play backup PF.

I suggest us signing two great players, and all you can say about it is pointing out the difference between Outlaw and Batum at backup PF?? If you pick more gnat shit out of pepper you might be able to make yourself a baked potato.

I was reading on another board, that there is a loophole in the CBA. If you draft a guy in Europe, and he continues to play in Europe for 3 years, you are no longer bound by the rookie scale. You can offer as much as you have available under the cap. Supposedly, the Spurs are going to try to use this loophole to persuade Splitter to come over.

Obvious caveat: I have no idea how credible the source of this info is. Just take it FWIW.

Thanks for the updates!

However, I find it funny that people on this board have no trouble say the f-word, but not the n-word

On is a description of sex. The other a racial slur created to hold a whole people down.

The comparison is not valid.

you know what durant did last summer? he came back to texas, went to summer school, and worked out. seemed to do alright for his game.

Good point. After a year of PJ and all the turmoil surrounding the team, getting away to get his head clear was a smart move!

Of course he looked like the same player as last year until Oklahoma got a coaching change.

:innocent:
true. as soon as they let him play his position, he was a lot better. i actually feel like it will be the same with oden. as soon as the team really starts to use him on both ends of the floor and just lets him play, he will be a lot better player.

I don't think this is right, but I'm not sure how to prove there is no such loophole. So I'll just go to bed now.

Not really surprised Greg wanted nothing to do with Portland this off season.

Are we going to see a new Greg next year? I'd like to know who he's planning on working out with.

Almost every one of Greg's supporters has pointed to next season as his "break out year". His knee will be fully healed, he'll have had a whole summer to work on conditioning, and he will presumably spend his time this summer working on his game as well.

I hope he wants it as bad for himself as we want it for him, but I'm not sure he does.

I'm glad we have some mind readers here. So far I've only see DaRizzle do that with the Ford stock but good to know there are more out there.
