I thought this was interesting. I'll merge it into the Covid super thread later.

Another Covid tidal wave is upon us.

This is honestly the worst winter illness season that I can remember. Staff in my office have been out like crazy and anytime I call one of our contractors it sounds like 50% of the time something is going around in their business too. Glad I'm over covid and that my case was mild, but my poor wife wasn't as lucky. I think she's finally turned the corner. Mask up and get lots of vitamins. Airborne and Emergen-C are your friends!

Link? They definitely don't hurt.

Vitamin C, meanwhile, began to say the exact opposite: scientists were repeatedly finding that colds progress much the same way regardless of whether you down a giant jug of Tropicana or not.

A Cochrane review of nearly 30 studies looking at people with colds taking the normal daily dose of vitamin C found that it reduced colds’ length by 8 percent. This means if your cold lasts five days, it might be shortened by about 10 hours.

But you need to be taking the supplement BEFORE you get the cold. It's not going to have much effect if you're already sick.

Which is how I suggested them, not as a cure. Airborne also contains more than just vitamin C. I don't really see what your point is. If you ARE sick, go see a doctor.

Nobody takes Airborne or Emergen-C before they're sick. They're taken after people get sick.

Also - to your point about "they definitely don't hurt," something to think about...

Mega-doses even come with some risks. The National Institutes of Health says people shouldn't take more than 2,000 mg (the equivalent of two Emergen-C packets) per day. Anything higher than that, and you're looking at possible stomach cramps, nausea, and diarrhea.

And that might not be all. In one study, Swedish researchers found that men taking vitamin C were twice as likely to develop kidney stones as their peers who happened to not be taking the vitamins.

I do. I have it sitting right by my computer at home and in the office.

Never had kidney stones.

I take vitamin C daily. If someone I know becomes sick or if bugs are going around I will take airborne, yes.

I guess you do you. Everything I have read is that Airborne is a placebo.

You have actually READ about Airborne?
