Crabbe gone to Brooklyn?

Wait 3 days and see...this could just be a smokescreen or an option that leads to cap space for another deal...I think what folks haven't really focused on is a players role on a team....lot of bench players see an opportunity to start...I think Henderson and Crabbe wanted that at this point in their career. Crabbe is a fine role player but not a game changer. He improved in areas. Nice guy...a little passive for my taste...he'll never get ejected from a game probably or collect a tech foul

Yeah, but watching someone play a game or two is not a good sample size of a player.
oh stop...you just like baiting sometimes JFizz....fans watch players on youtube whenever they are in any way rumored to become blazers...I watched a lot of film on Turner when we made the offer to him...he's better than Crabbe IMO....but you don't value my opinion so that's not my problem..are you some kind of expert NBA talent scout with a backstage pass or something?

Letting Crabbe walk could also indicate that they think Montero will get his bench time....I think Montero's upside is better than Crabbe's if he gets a shot

Montero has more natural skills to be sure but can he break out of that 'raw' level where he currently resides? His shot, handle and passing ability are on par with Crabbe or significantly better but he's yet to get the experience to see if he can put those skills to use in a meaningful NBA game.

Not at all. I just get annoyed of the mega homers. At the end of the day, you and i just think differently and thats ok. Im an analytics guys as im an accountant. Youre more a creative type. We just wont see much eye to eye.

Btw, the only baiting i enjoy doing is of the masturbatory type.

I hope so...I really like Montero's skills...I suspect Stotts will add him to the bench mob if Crabbe signs elsewhere

Again, it's not like we just started talking about Turner this week. It has been an on and off discussion since he was drafted. You act like we only like him now, because we got him.

I like AC, but he does very little outside of shooting and scoring. He might become a consistent 15-18 ppg scorer eventually, but he needs that shot created for him as his handle is suspect. 77% of his 2pt makes last season were assisted. 96% of his 3pt makes were assisted. His defense has improved but he still fouls too much and reaches when he shouldn't. He's not a true 3 and D guy. And his versatility is also overstated-- he's a SG, with prototypical SG size, but not the strength or length to switch onto bigger SFs like Kawhi, Lebron, KD, etc. And he lacks the quickness to guard PGs. If you recall, we didn't put Crabbe on CP in the playoffs -- we put Hark on him.

I would hate to lose an asset for nothing in return given how much we desperately need talent, but if there are better C options that open up in a S&T, we shouldn't hesitate to move on.

Crabbe is very misleading in that regard, you look at the stats and you think he is just someone who stands in the corner and waits for an open shot.
Crabbe has become way more than that, he stands out as a guy who runs through screens and then knocks down shots at a high percentage, he's reminding me of a poor-man's Rip Hamilton and this was only his first year playing major minutes under a meaningful role.

We're all Blazer fans, whether we love to crunch numbers and compare stats or just enjoy watching the games and rooting for OUR guys. (Well, at least most of us are. There are a few who post here who make you wonder.) That said, I think that it would take some of the tension between the "mega homers" and the "analytical realists" down a notch if Denny would add a feature to the board so that every reply began with something like, "I know I may be overstating my case since I don't really know as much as I like to let on, but here's what I'm thinking:".

Who is "we?" Some of you i remember liking him when he was drafted. Some even compared him to brandon roy. I have no problem if you like him.

There are also posters around here that i cant say that for that now think he is gonna be a difference maker for us. Perhaps. And some that have stated they dont watch other teams period.

Im just not ready to say that about him until i see him on the court. I dont mind turner, there are various things that just turn me off to the signing.

LOL, that statement would basically apply to everybody.

I dont know more than the next guy im sure, but ive been obsessed with basketball since i could read box scores (age of 3) and since ive watched basketball every year of my life since then, ive formed my opinions just like everyone else. So of course i think others will be wrong, and others will think im wrong. This is a forum for chrissakes.

Something you guys need to understand is i just have high expectations. Im not ok with mediocrity.

I WANT to be proven wrong. And if Turner ends up being a stud for us ill be right there with you cheering my ass off and buying his jersey. Ill even take it like a good sport if you flip me shit on my wrong prediction.

I know. I was kidding, right?

There's a reason people liken him to Roy. I don't think he's at all the all-star level player Roy was, but he fills up the score sheet in a similar manner.

Roy per 36 career:

Turner per 36 career:

Rebounds, assists, steals roughly the same. FG% and 3pt% and FTA and FGA advantage Roy.

Turner is 6'7" 220lbs
Roy was 6'6" 216lbs

On defense, FWIW, Roy's career DRtg is 110, best was 109. Turner's career 105, best 99.

Roy was a bad defender, who got really bad his last couple years, probably due to energy conservation and mobility loss.

I understand the comparisons, they both had old man games to them with sneaky athleticism.

I just think turner is a poor mans roy. Thats ok. I hope he ends up being great for us.

The only reason why we would match anything beyond $11M-$12M for Crabbe would be to immediately trade him or use him as a trade bait at some point during season, before CJ re-signs. There is absolutely zero point paying $15M a year or more to a back up SG/SF when your backcourt costs you $50M+ a year and you have three small forwards better than him.

He would fetch us someone good in a trade and it doesn't have to be immediately so you could use him with other players during season. If we could get Noel or Okafor in return I'd be over the moon.

Not matching would be pointless though. We'd lose a good trade asset. Beyond $15M he might be tough to move though.

When did this happen? Turner, aminu and harkless are all better than crabbe? Its just that easy?

I disagree. I dont think its that black and white. I think crabbe amongst the league might have the highest value of those 4 players contracts aside (because with contracts its gonna be aminu)

Letting Crabbe walk could also indicate that they think Montero will get his bench time....I think Montero's upside is better than Crabbe's if he gets a shot
I think Pat is the one who takes Crabbe spot. Pat has the potential to bring more to the table.

See link above from me. If you guys don't want the Nets to throw a big contract at Crabbe then you better hope Wade goes back to MIA so they in turn don't match on Tyler Johnson. Doesn't look like it is happening now though. He is picking CHI if they can unload some contracts. So contract could be coming Crabbe's way soon from a team.
