Leicester are poised to be handed a sizeable boost by the return to action of key duo Jordan Crane and Ed Slater against rivals Saracens on Saturday.

Try-scoring number eight Crane has been absent from a Tigers jersey since claiming a hat-trick against Treviso in the Heineken Cup back in January. Meanwhile, lock forward Slater has been out with a toe problem but is expected to feature in a pack that includes recovering star Tom Croft.

"Croft is back in the mix again and Martin Castrogiovanni is available after returning from Italian duty. Ed Slater (toe) and Jordan Crane (knee) should also be fit," said Richard Cockerill, speaking to thisisleicestershire.co.uk.

"Matt Smith (hamstring) won't be fit this weekend but I am hoping that he will play in the second team game the week after.

"Then, after the Six Nations has finished, and barring no new injuries there, we should have everyone fit apart from our long-termers, which will be superb.

"In the short-term, we will have a good side out this weekend and we will be well prepared.
