Everyone was so excited to get him, but he's not a consistent shooter. He was pretty bad last season. And he was a total choke artist in the last two playoffs. He is not our savior. What I do like about him is that he wants to be here, but there's a reason we were able to get him cheap. I'll try not to get my hopes up when he shoots the ball.

He can't be worse than Rudy Fernandez.

It's only a one year deal, 5 mil.

I think he shot poorly tonight because he was the guy that the Blazers passed the ball to when they had nothing going in their half court game. He hoisted up a lot of prayers at the end of the shot clock.

I like him. He can create his own shot and we need those kind of guys.

LOL at this topic, it just ain't Crawford - we have a LOT of streaky shooters. I am developing a "cringe reflex" when Gerald hoists any outside shot and Batum looks so fluid but he's also streaky as hell and Wes can be the same - seems to be the nature of our team. Last night we were just misfiring too much on some good open shots.

I don't think it will help playing him at PG. As with all shooters, I think playing with a PG helps. Right now he hasn't taken many open shots. Most 3's have been forced. Look how many wide open 3's Wes has gotten at the SG.

But he has only played 2 preseason games and very few practices. He will need time to adjust. However I don't have a good feeling about him at the point. If Nolan can't do it this year, then we should look at a Vet PG as a back up. But on the other hand Nolan hasn't had any time either. He needs some minutes to develop.

It's going to be a frustrating start for a lot of teams. Teams like SA may benefit the most.

People we need more:
1. those who can hit the shots they create
2. those who can create better shots for other people

I think yesterday was a depressing reminder of how important Marcus Camby is to this team (since we're never getting Oden). You can't run if you don't get the rebound, and everybody else was getting dunked on.

Crawford is a gunner that makes Travis Outlaw look like a shy shooter

Reminds me of this quote from the story Quick did on Outlaw a few years back:

Travis Outlaw said:
You give me that type of leeway boy, I be there ... I'm going to retire there. Give me the green light: 'Trav, you get to shoot whenever you want to, there ain't no such thing as a bad shot...'

I don't believe Jamal Crawford has ever needed to be given a green light. As far as he's concerned, there is no other color.

12 assists in 2 games, despite owning the "Microwave" role.

I am surprised. I would not have guessed that. I must admit it is a little hard watching the action on my lap top vs my nice big screen TV. I can barely see who is who. Somehow I missed a lot of those assists.

I love me some ball movement. Unfortunately, players like Crawford prefer to go one-on-three, regardless of the shot clock. The young guys, Elliot and Nolan, have a lot to learn. I hope they don't learn it from Crawford.

They are not assists within the offense though

You say that like it's a bad thing. First, an assist is an assist. You only get one when your team scores. Second, you absolutely HATE Nate's offense, and now you criticize Crawford for not running it? You can't have it both ways.

The fact is, Crawford has played the same number of minutes, but has 50% more assists (12 vs. 8) than our new starting PG.

Your up and down posts are going to be just as frustrating. I can't wait until Crawford drops 30. Then you will be talking 6th man of the year and WCF.

Dude, look at the free agent signings. Who were we going to get, who was willing to come here, who would have been a clear upgrade for the same (or less) long-term salary commitment?

All aboard KS's Bi-Polar Express!

Choo Choo!!

Crawford is ... "fine." I thought he looked pretty much at his worst last night, but only because he was missing so many shots. Most nights he'll be better than that, but those will still pop up from time to time.

This is his game so people might as well get used to it.

This guy rates the top 8 NBA crossover players, and Crawford wins.

He links to a good but fuzzy 9-minute YouTube showing all of Crawford's skills. There is no sound because "This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by all copyright holders. The audio has been disabled."

He is a glorified Derrick Anderson without the injuries. That's not a bad thing, IMO. We need someone to keep the defense honest, and I doubt no team will ever leave him wide open, even if he misses 10 in a row. Why? Well he can make 10 in a row as well. Just knowing he's on the floor will give proper spacing. That wasn't the respect that was given to Fernandez, Matthews, Mills or Batum. He will open things up more this season.

Then why has he shot below 40% in each of the last two playoffs?

Because he's a slightly above average player and isolation basketball doesn't usually work (against usually good defenses) in the playoffs?

Having a very good scoring veteren off he bench is not going to frustrate me as much as we have had coming off our bench is recent years. (Rudy)

Probably less swearing in Spanish and less pouting too.
