More than half the shots he takes are 3 pointers. Happy with that? For a SF, I'd think he'd take it to the rim more or at least shoot more mid range shots. Is he a nancy?

Ryan Anderson is the only other player that is close to that stat of Nic's.

What's up with his mind set on his shooting choices?

Well a lot of it stems from the inside out game. Stotts wants the floor spread so Aldridge will have more room to post up. At the rate Nick has shot them before his injury was in the mid 40%. That's a great FG% for even 2 pointers for SFs.

I don't like all the three pointers, but I'd rather have those than ISO's

Yes he needs to take it to the rim more, or how about learning a post up game a la Tayshaun Prince.

I'm fine with the 3pointers,but he just needs to cut more. We always see that pick set for Lillard at the top of the 3pt line, but never any solid picks down on the blocks to free up cutters.

Still butthurt over losing out on him? Yeah, I figured you would be.

Batum is clearly being set on the perimeter. That being said, he's been less aggressive going to the hoop the last several games. Given how much more aggressive he was earlier, I'm going to assume the last few games has to do more with being super-sick, followed by the injury, than anything else.

Honestly, I'm glad it didn't work out now. I just don't see Batum stepping it up consistently like he was asked to do. Plus it seems like he has chronic back issues. Do you think he's "moving the needle"?

With Aldridge taking more shots than all other Blazers combined between 3 feet and the 3-point line, Batum, Lillard, and Matthews must take shots where they can find them, so they take mainly 3s.

And clearly Stotts seems to prefer jump shots over attacking the basket. I'm glad we don't have Nate, but I'm not seeing the "offensive genius" of Stotts.

In French, he's a "Big Nancy":

He's limited personnel wise.

It goes beyond his personnel. The offense may be less rigid than Nate's, but it's still not a very good offense. Most of the dunks/lay-ups are created off of individual effort, rather than designed plays. That MUST change if we ever want to be a good team.

I like Batum. There are a lot of people (and I'm not referring to Blazers fans) who consider him one of the best SF's in the game. So, any Minne fan that says they're happy not to have him...... I don't buy it. The things he could do on a roster like Minne's, especially with a guy like Kevin Love to play off.

His 3pt shot attempts are to be expected because as much as people don't want to admit it, he's just not very good at creating his own shot. He's primarily a set shooter.

An inconsistent set shooter.

Last year 77% of his shots were assisted. That was terrible. Its 65% now, which is better, but you're right, he's a shooter first, a slasher second, and a driver last.

This is not some crazy I didn't know this stat. If you've been watching the games, you'd know all he shoots are threes. This is not some sort of revelation. Where have you been?

I'm not even going to touch this one and say what I was going to say... so.... suffice to say, he's been with all the other rubes posters. Showing off their lack of basketball knowledge and raiding other boards with a fierce immaturity.

Agreed. Jump shooting is nice but you can go cold to easy. Id like to see a lot more easy layups/dunks then open jump shots.

I love how everyone talks about how we should get "easy" baskets like dunks and layups instead of shoot jumpers. How pray tell is it easy to get dunks and layups? I'm sure if it was easy, we'd do it all game. Like when people say Aldridge should get in the post for easy scores. If it was easy, he'd do it. Jump shots are the easiest scores you can get. Requires very little energy and if you're behind the line, you get an extra point for it. Two pointers in the post are too much work. Why bother?

Cuts, picks, and passes get you easier shots in the paint.

The closer they are to the hoop the easier the shot is... I couldn't care less if he expends a lot of energy while trying to get close to the basket. Every player should be giving 100% of his energy every game.

It seems pretty simple to me. Batum was jacked up at the start of the season, wanting to live up to his new contract and silence all the skeptics after his bad PR summer, but now he has reverted back to his normal mode of play. The only real difference is, he's a bigger, more confident part of the offense this year. Same player, though.

This is the point. Batum doesn't seem to know what an 18 foot jumper is. He likes to camp out at the 3 point line. That brand of basketball seems lame. Maybe it's Stotts, but Batum has always taken more 3's than 2's. I'd rather see my SG or PG do that.

Eh, I'd much rather take a shot from 5' further out if it's worth 50% more. The 18' shot is the least effective shot in the game. Use it occasionally, but if you're shooting long jumpers then go for the one that gives you a 50% increase on your investment. That said, I'd much rather see the majority of our shots coming from within 7' of the hoop.
