I did read that after the Columbine shooting, there were like 350 reported threats in the weeks immediately following. In times where big shootings haven't occurred for some time, there's maybe 1-2 per week nationwide.
BTW, there was no "2nd gunman." The second person taken into custody was the shooter's brother. He was released because there was no evidence he had anything to do with it. If the author of the original story was really scouring the news/internet for info, she would have known that.
