<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>New York Post -
Peter Vecsey of the New York Post has reported that Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban would be willing to give Jason Kidd the one-year, $20 million extension that the Nets would not give the point guard.

The extension would be for the 2009-10 season, according to a source close to agent Jeff Schwartz</div>

I saw that, and with him seeming to covet Kidd, an article somewhere saying Thorn wanted to hold out for more for Kidd for the 3 three way trade, and with Gasol a Laker so the Mavs are even farther down the ladder, I could see a deal with Dallas getting us something big. I don't want to get my hopes up, but maybe they'd even part with Howard.

Before you guys get too excited look at who wrote the article. He is the least correct journalist

Juwan Howard maybe but no way would they give up Josh.

Still, the Lakers just put a lot of pressure on them to make a move.

Vecsey write it thought, so its probably not true
ughh

Dammit, Petey!

So Kidd can get his extension there, and the Lakers just got a heck of a lot better...hm, better give Portland a call and tell them that the deal might not be dead.

The Laker deal might force Cuban's hand. Let's see if it happens.

Just in case everyone is wondering Rick Bucher made a comment yesterday that the deal wasn't dead but Martell Webster was now in the deal instead of Travis Outlaw

Bucher reported the trade on ESPN News to be

To Portland:

*Devin Harris*Brandon Bass*Nick Fazekas

To Dallas:

*Jason Kidd*Malik Allen*Sergio Rodriguez

To NJ:

*Martell Webster*Jarrett Jack*Channing Frye*DeSagana Diop*Jerry Stackhouse*Devon George*Two 1st round picks

SOLD. Webster is a great pick up, I'd be happy with him or Outlaw. The two first rounders look great, too.

So if Travis Outlaw wasn't a good enough "centerpiece" for Thorn to get back when trading his franchise player what makes anyone think Martell Webster is any better?

I'm not sure that's the case.

It could be that Thron actually wanted Outlaw, but Portland's only willing to give up Webster.

Either way, Channing Frye sucks. Why couldn't we get Spanish Chocolate..?

My only question is would we prefer to get
Devon Harris, Brandon Bass, a first and cap relief
or
Martell Webster, Jarret Jack, Channing Frye and two first rounders.

It all comes down to Marcus. Do you believe he is a future star or a career backup...cause if its the later than we want Harris. If you believe that Marcus will be a star than no question we make the current trade.

for shits and giggles...here's what are roster could look like if we made the three way trade.

PG: Marcus Williams, Jarret Jack
SG: Vince Carter, Martell Webster
SF: Richard Jefferson, Boki Nachbar
PF: Sean Williams, Channing Frye
C: Josh Boone, Stromile Swift

The bold players become the young core we want for Brooklyn.

They are both gonna be studs...remember Webster is 3 years younger than Outlaw, he came straight out of high school. He'd be the youngest guy on the roster...3 months younger than Swat.

We'd get Stack and Diop, too...so it'd be lookin a little better than that.

Which is why I think Portland is stalling. They don't want to give up Outlaw, especially when he is Roy's best friend on the team.

What I got from the articles was Outlaw wasn't good enough of a "centerpiece" to get back for dealing Kidd, that maybe in fact he wanted Devin Harris.

apparently we would by out Stack...then let Diop's contract expire.

Thats actually what I think we're working with going into draft night.
I feel like Boki will resign...but wont care if he doesnt.

The only question is do we keep all three picks or try to trade up?
