Yeah; still very possible he gets cut if we see a better prospect or acquire a player using cap space in a trade.

He's safe until next week though.

If you're a Montero fan its a good sign the team at least sees the potential for something with him even if its a fraction of a percent chance he becomes a useful NBA player.
 
Eliot Williams was waived by the Hornets today. Not that I think we cut Luis Montero but I guess there is always that chance until January.

the Eliot Williams boat set adrift a while ago, hit a rock outcropping and sank. And then when it hit the floor of the ocean, exploded on impact.

Were you saying the team should give Eliot a tryout?
 
Why are we wanting to add guys we known have failed in favor of a guy who hasn't had a chance to fail?

You're right. Moe harkless has failed. Al farouq aminu has failed. Allen crabbe has failed. Lets let Luis Montero play in front of those guys because he hasn't had the chance yet to fail

Well, none of those guys have really failed to the degree that Eliot failed.

And no one is saying play in front of, but having a roster spot ahead of a guy who hasn't done jack in the league.

Harkless, Al Faruq and Crabbe have each had a much more than Eliot has. So you're making a false comparison.

We get it, you don't like Montero.

I'm not talking about Elliot Williams.

And i love Montero. he is a future all star
 
Montero will probably play fewer minutes than Earl Watson did

Quite the contrary, I don't think we cut Montero unless someone as good as PJ3 is cut. I only brought up Eliot because he has a (small) fan club here.

Dude you are delusional in your attempt to defend your points. Harkless and Aminu had reasonable success and promise elsewhere, at least more than Jimmer or PJ3 have... Neither of them have been cut in their time in their league. You are talking about guys who came in the league with some hype, fizzled (oh the irony) and can't even make a team, compared to a guy who has shown the management of this team enough that they are willing to invest a season on developing a guy in the 15th spot. It's almost like you are going off NBAdraft.net write ups as your evidence as to why we should bring in guys. Let's see this list of gems of guys getting cut that are such better options for our 15th spot on the bench. Go ahead trot out a list of names of these glorious cast offs you are so excited about.

Nope didn't hit a nerve, nor am I excited about things. You have spent a month ripping this kid every which way, my take all along has been the same, who gives a shit it's the 15th spot on the roster of a team that isn't going to be very good. I'm not the one desperately manufacturing things like suggesting people are saying Montero should be playing over other players, when nobody has said he should be anything more than a 15th guy who plays 2 minutes in blowouts. PJ3 is not going to move the needle on a regular basis anytime soon yeah he had a big game so what.

good points. More eloquent than mine.

IF Luis can turn into a decent player (reliable backup), it's worth it. The team sees something in his, and they have much more knowledge on his ability and athleticism and potential than we do.

He could turn out to be a bust, no doubt. But it seems people who are against him are against him much in the same way as the "Lillard is fools gold" and "Harrison fucking Barnes" threads
 
Trust in Olshey!!! Montero will obviously be a scapegoat just like Meyers was his rookie year..Meyers hadn't played that much basketball either and didn't look NBA ready until halfway through his third season

Actually if you've been paying attention, I've said multiple times that it's fine if he is the 15th guy, and that I'd cut him if someone better was available after cuts of other teams (assuming someone would be better). I have no problem with him being the 15th guy. But if a guy like Perry Jones 3 is cut, I'd be all over him over Montero. Pj3 has proven he can have big games in this league. Something Montero very well might not ever show.
 
What I'm hoping is that they want Montero to become a long, defensive minded point guard and will try to develop that

No offense jfizz, but he's right. Schilly was pretty clearly talking about the earlier comment about Eliott Williams with his post about "people who have already failed", saying it would be silly to cut Montero in favor of another teams cast-off (like Williams, or Boatright, or PJ3). Your reply to his post went in another direction entirely, suggesting that he was claiming that Montero should play in front of his already on our squad. However, he never said or even implied that.

Exactly as Julius said, you were arguing against a claim that nobody had made.
 
They wanted to build a team around Dame and I'm guessing they think the guys they brought in can develop into that type of roster. I'd assume Montero would be a project they've figured is worth the time it'll take and I'm good with that. There's really not a guy on the team that I dislike
