Glad he finally got picked up somewhere and didn't have to go play on the Morocco Camel Toes or something.

Will he still go by DB Hooper or shake off the moniker PDX gave him?

I'd like to see this dude break out and become a starter somewhere, but I think there's something wrong with him. Is it:

A) low IQ on/off the court
B) lack of ambition and drive
C) wild inconsistency
D) none of the above, there's nothing wrong with him, he's just never been given a chance and consistent and extended minutes over a season.

There is nothing "wrong" with him, he's one of the few hundred best basketball players on the planet. He's not super highly ranked, up into that top200 though, no shame in that.

Who here is in the top200 of their profession? While I think I'm successful I'm pretty sure that I'm not one of the top200 best financial experts on the planet.

Assume this is just an exhibit 10 or training camp deal or whatever it's called.

In terms of why he's not a highly ranked top200 player;

I don't think he's particularly athletic (relative to NBA players)

He's not an efficient shooter

Defensive isn't great

I enjoyed rooting for him and wish him the best. Would be fine bringing him back at the end of the bench if we had injuries or such. But he's not really a difference maker and not really young with upside any longer.

Something like that. Hope he earns a roster spot. Would be fun to watch him play with everything on the line like it is.

E. Lack of talent.

E. Lack of talent.

I don't know about that. He's had games where he's really cooked and scored crazy amount of points in a short time. You call that a lack of talent? Was that just pure luck? He's done it more than once.

I call that a cynical and typically negative take that is inherently and objectively wrong.

He certainly can score, thats his biggest strength. The problem is he isn't very efficient. For every dominant scoring game he had 4 poor ones. He also wasn't a good passer so couldn't really run an offense. Then he gives up points defensively.

I do think he could fit a role off the bench for the right NBA team. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the league at some point.

"low IQ on/off the court"

I'd call this being an option as cynical and negative. I thought Blanton carried himself with class in every interview I heard him speak.

He has one very good skill on a basketball court, he can be a volume scorer. He's not a great shooter, passer, dribbler, creator, defender etc ... but yes he will have games where things come together for him and he'll put up a nice stat line but it's so feast or famine with him.

Bro? He just got cut from a team that quite possibly won’t make the playoffs.
Now let’s get really objective here. He is in the NBA and playing against the very best in the entire world. Obviously the guy has talent. This is the same argument about how close the talent level is throughout the league. On any given night any team can beat another team no matter how poor their season is going. Where the small differences show is through the entire season and into the playoffs.
Remember Billy Ray Bates lit a few teams up also. In the end he was less than average in this league.
DB was very average at best once he was scouted and teams knew what to look for.

Thanks for your great work, Bob! We don't know what we would do without you! You are so helpful and organized and your tremendous dedication to this forum is such an incredible thing to behold and experience. How do you find the time to dedicate yourself so greatly to this task? Doesn't it take you away from painstakingly painting the commemorative miniatures at your home desk at which you spend hours organizing every drawer and item on top of it? Or telling other people around you in your personal life what to do and how to do it?

ignore him @BoBoBREWSKI, it's not worth the time.

It’s to a point where you have to realize who you are replying to. There’s truly only about 2 or 3 at that level on this forum.

He works as a bagger at Fred Meyer….I can’t believe that somebody who works at Fred Meyer is always so negative about this team.

If I'm not one of those people, I have failed you @THE HCP .

However, I have the high ground. So Star Wars reference here.

Wait just a fucking second... @BoBoBREWSKI works at FM? All this time I thought he was Ken Boddie.
You know, crazy story about Ken…..he started showing up on some of my friends facebook pages in pictures at BBQs and get together and I was like what the fuck!!?? Found out he was dating a friend of mine. But he has to be like 15 years older than her. Crazy! He was on a tour with some television peeps and came thru the studio. He said, “You must be Big John!” “Beth said to say hi!” Mind blown. Wish it had been Ed Whelan!
