Every track, the rhythm he raps with is exactly the same, the topics are exactly the same, the rhymes sound so similar, etc etc.Curious what you guys mean by he sounds the same?
sounds to me like Dame's not as hungry as he was with the first cd
I haven’t had a chance yet to listen to it, but I’ve been listening to rap non stop for about 40 years. From The SugarHill Gang - Chance The Rapper. I think having a now 18 year old son and always being with the team I’ve stayed pretty on top of it. But as far as sounding the same, I think you can apply that to all artists in all genres can’t you? Shit, you can tell an AC/DC song after just a few notes just like you can recognize a Dr. Dre or Timbland produced track immediately regardless of whose rapping. Listen to NAS for example, one of the best ever. A track off of NY State Of Mind which was released in’94 sounds exactly like his newest release NASIR that came out last summer.Every track, the rhythm he raps with is exactly the same, the topics are exactly the same, the rhymes sound so similar, etc etc.
Either the times have completely passed me, or I've gone mad. How are the reviews for this album so positive? Are people just rating him based on other pros who tried to rap? Cuz if it were among all artists, this is not that good.
Was hoping for growth to at least some better rhymes or more creative references or even ad libs. Still really basic stuff. He's got decent flow, but content just hasn't improved.I haven’t had a chance yet to listen to it, but I’ve been listening to rap non stop for about 40 years. I’m not telling you anything you don’t know, but am I wrong?

If he wasn't a superstar ball player with his platform, would this album get any traction in the public opinion?
He sounds the same in like every track
Will take a listen when I land. Thanks man.

Nope not wrong at all. But here is where the difference would be. AC/DC sounds like AC/DC. Rush sounds like Rush. Boston sounds like Boston. Aerosmith sounds like Aerosmith. ZZtop sounds like ZZtop but not one of those sounds the same as the other.I haven’t had a chance yet to listen to it, but I’ve been listening to rap non stop for about 40 years. These are the two better ones in the list.

Nah, you are just only hearing what is in the mainstream or radio. There are so many different styles of hip hop, you might just be only hearing what is in the mainstream or popular right now.Nope not wrong at all. But here is where the difference would be. That is the problem with Rap in general.
Just like people think all Blue Note Jazz artists sound the same and that's ridiculous. Or all Atlantic Records R&B music from the late 50s to late 60s was the same.
Nah bro. I'm not hearing any of it really. Except when some kid drives by with it blaring. I don't mind them doing that because i used to do it with Def Leppard and Van Halen. Just sayin. Some things never change.Nah, you are just only hearing what is in the mainstream or radio. This is funny because rap has changed since the 90’s-early 00’s and it’s gone down hill since the golden era of hip hop.Nah bro. I'm not hearing any of it really. Except when some kid drives by with it blaring. I don't mind them doing that because i used to do it with Def Leppard and Van Halen. Just sayin. Some things never change.
All about that word play! When it comes to rap, im more into the beats and the meaning of the words than the flow.
I'll listen to it tonight on the way home.
