DAME IS AN ALL STAR!!!

He went after Dame (and all the Warriors) for some reason in his support of PG

Think he forgot that Dame gave him 36/13/5 in a big loss for OKC. Good luck getting on a team with these dudes that weekend

1. RW is a good teammate.

2. Fuck RW.

3. Fuck OKC.

4. Insane in the Damebrain!

Fuck Statsbrick, he only plays for Stats, and his Team sucks

Russ is a bitch! Lillard is playing better season than PG, and OKC have 2 more wins than us. If you both are all star, you should have more than 27 wins.

Guy is averaging 25 and 6, and Blazers are in playoff spot. Shut up bitch!

How come people bitch every year about Dame not making the team, and now that he does people are saying be shouldn't have made it?
I think people just like to bitch and moan.

Why does making the All-Star team matter?? Everyone knows players get snubbed every year so why not just enjoy the time off? Is it really that fun of a weekend for the players? It looks lame on tv, I’m sure they could all have more fun at home with their millions.

It's a little fun for players and it's an honor.

That's right, Russ. Just because you're voted an All Star doesn't mean you're an All Star.

Boy, Pritchard really won the offseason trading non-All Star Paul George for All Star Victor Oladipo.

I'd say that's a product of the team PG is on (as well as the conference) and the lack of talent on the eastern conference.

For them it's probably a huge party the whole weekend. So, it's a chance to hang out with part of the fraternity.

An honor? I’ve never met anyone who bitched and whined about not recieving an honor....It’s a popularity contest in my opinion.

Well Layne, look at it this way.... does it bug you that Jerry Cantrell isn't voted one of the Top Ten Guitarists every year in Guitar Player's Reader Polls? Probably not... but still, the NBA is the most status driven sport in a celebrity obsessed world. NBA Players need All Star nods the same way actors need Oscar nods. Validation from one's peers in front of the world is as much about ego as honor.

First off....good one but Layne Staley is my actual name. I never get tired of those jokes though, seriously never.

If players being televised a minimum of 82 times per year and over 50% of the All-Stars having shoes named after them isn’t enough to achieve that validation than we are rooting for the most self-centered people in the world.

Welcome to RC2

I know this thread is about Dame, but how about Jimmy Butler? Moved from the Eastern Conference to the Western Conference and won an all-star spot.

Well, there are actually only about 10 guys who have shoes named after them that you would see in a regular store up at the mall and another handful you'd have to search on line to find. So you are about 235 players off on that one. There is nothing wrong with having an event/events to recognize these guys. People need to realize that being an allstar isn't a true measuring stick of a players value or talent. Obviously. I grew up loving to watch the games and still do. If you don't like it, take the weekend off.
And as far as the players caring about making it, it's a big deal to them. They want to be acknowledged. Nothing wrong with that.

Can we have a mod change the title of this thread to read "Dame is an All-Star", or at least add (And Oregon High Schools) there to make it official?

I said 50% of the All-Stars not entire league but I understand your point.

Want to meet someone named Farrokh Bulsara that doesn't know that it's Freddie Mercury's original name.

Of course I do!

I don’t mind my name, when people hear it at parties and look at me weird I just pop in the Mad Season(my favorite LS work) and hit repeat. It amuses me.

Hey Russ,

You want to know the real reason Paul George did not make the All Star team? His crappy shooting, ball hog point guard doesn't give him enough shots.

Russell Westbrook: 21.2 FGA/G, TS% = .512
Paul George: 16.4 FGA/G, TS% = .572

George is averaging 20.9 PTS/G on just 16.4 FGA/G. That comes out to 1.274 PTS/FGA. If he was averaging as many shot attempts as his point guard, he'd be scoring 27.0 PTS/G. That would be 4th in the league in scoring and make him a lock to make the All Star team.

So Russ, you want PG13 to be an All Star, GIVE HIM THE DAMN BALL!

Not that you really seem to care about such things, but it might also have the side effect of your team winning more games.

You mean we're not? Just look at the reining MVP. Probably the most self-centered athlete to ever walk the face of the Earth.

Of course, I root against him - which makes me a constant target for the fanbois, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
