ESPN.com Insider David Thorpe has great timing. Yesterday, prior to Damian Lillard canning a game-winning three-pointer against the Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena, Thorpe released his updated rankings for NBA sophomores (this year’s rookie class has been so lackluster that ESPN isn’t bothering to rank them anymore) and put Lillard, who was third in the last ranking, at the top spot ahead of Pistons center Andre Drummond and ultra talented but oft-injured Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis …

True hoop TV talking Lillard. Front Page on ESPN, sophomore rankings for the month: Lillard #1.

Lillard gets flack for not being an MVP finisher at the rim, and not being the biggest, strongest, most athletic PG in the NBA, but Thorp had a nice take on his "mini-step-back 3."
