I like hearing this. Making sure our All Stars are good with this. I also love where Wes says the team wants to play into June. That's the closest I've heard any player or coach or even GM say that the goal is to win a championship this year. Aldridge and Olshey have said they want to win but the words "title" or "championship" are never uttered. Great to hear it from Wes.

I was consulted too, I'm just not allowed to say anything.

I read that too. I thought it was really cool that Neil brought them in on the decision. That's very smart.

It's smart business. You want the managers below you to be on board, so you consult with them regarding new hires. You also send the message to the free agents on the team (LA in particular) that they are not just employees, but partners.

What a great article. This team is special from the GM to the coach to the players, everyone just seems to fit and is on the same page. I view this trade as potentially our missing piece and the fact that the organization is sacrificing some future for some present speaks volumes as to how they feel about their chances. I also love the way Neil GM's, he is so careful and calculated and he banks on guys he knows to minimize the risk. Involving key players in this decision also is great work by Neil.

Fuck now I have to save my tax return for a trip to portland for finals.

Word, love picking up guys that are proven and looking to resurge their careers. RipCity can be a great environment for that.

Though he’s having a bit of an off season with averages of 14.5 points on 42 percent shooting from the field and 33 percent shooting from three, which might be due to the situation in Denver rather than his own shortcomings, Afflalo gives the Trail Blazers a starting-caliber wing on their bench who can hit the three, play in the post and defend while filling in for both Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum, an option the the Blazers haven’t had in years. And after consulting with his veteran players, Olshey said that he was confident Afflalo would be accepted and integrated into Portland’s locker room, making the decision a relatively easy one.

David Kahn might still have a job if he did.

:dunno:
