Dame playing through separated ribs...

Its nice to have a reason behind his current play but how I see it is you play through the injury if it still makes the team better. Playing through an injury that makes the team worse is selfish imo(if this is the case though I’d blame Stotts as much as anyone). I love Dame and believe in him but that’s just my pov on ANY injured player. Also, most players left on the final 4 teams have injuries that guys are playing through.

The question hinges on better than what? It's not like Dame was doing nothing out there. He usually period at such a high level, that meerly good is disappointing, but who would do better?

I’m not saying he shouldn’t be playing, I’m just wondering if he’s really hurt and not the “same” dame maybe Terry doesn’t need to play him 40 min? Maybe Curry picks up a few extra minutes? I doubt we will ever know the extent of this injury, I don’t expect Dame or anyone else to use it as an excuse. I’m happy we got as far as we have, it’s a good stepping stone for this team. You don’t go from first round sweep to nba finals in b2b seasons very often so I liked the progress we made.

Check out @CojoUSA’s Tweet:

We'd still get throttled by the Warriors, but it helps explain his poor play

How the hell did I miss this?
it was never announced, explains a lot, I have had a rib separation and it hurts breathing, moving, can't imagine having to play Bball with it. Apparently it started in the Denver series and Lonney landing onDame in Game 2 aggravated it. Oh well, great season in any case. Given this would not mind seeing Simons getting 10-15 minutes of experience against the best in the biz

Holy hell, the Blazers limped into the playoffs without Nurkic, Enes gets injured furthering our problems, and now Damian is playing through an injury as well?!? It clearly wasn't to be our year no matter how much we fans try to will it to be.

Just sit our wounded, we need them to get better for next season, not further injure themselves.

I am proud of this team, they have played with such heart in these playoffs. We haven't been treated to a playoff season like this one in quite some time. It has me looking forward to what will come next season. From what I see, this team is still on the rise. Go Blazers! :smiley-jumping:

Ok... If he's hurt he's hurt.
The timing of this reeks of Blazers PR, "leaking" to the media hey, don't blame Dame!
If they win either of the last two games this doesn't come out. Sorry but they killed PG13 and WB in the first round (the media), both guys are having off-season surgeries. If you're out there then you don't just get a "pass" for being hurt. If he can't play then he shouldn't actually play. Separated ribs are awful, and I admire him playing through it, but I don't like the timing of this coming out.

Been an incredible ride and Dame is responsible for a lot of it, let's try again next year with a healthy squad.

At the end of the season, so monday night I guess. It didn't come out after game 2. It only came out now because they lost and the media was hammering him for poor play.

Timing is..well..timely no doubt, but Dame isn't one to typically offer up excuses.

I don't think they would have ever let it out if he wasn't getting hammered, but since he was getting hammered, they were like, hold up. They need to know a couple things.

Dame plays through stuff all the time. When he does get injured and does so, its much harder to tell because he doesn't go to the locker room during a game. He will have it checked out after instead. It takes something truly serious for everyone to know right away he is injured, and if it isn't clear from the outset, I don't think the Blazers like to let it be known because then it becomes the focus and a distraction.

In this instance, I give them a pass.

I keep forgetting there is an Ignore Button. Next season i'm gonna have to figure out how to use it. Improvements to my game. Gotta work on something this summer.

Meh. MM doesnt strike me as the type of person to need to put anyone on ignore. I was just playin fun. You however... have many conversations with yourself it seems with the numbers you ignore. :)

I guarantee you that i was all over the game thread on Game one. Dame was nursing a Hamstring and was holding his ribs.
I posted it at least five times. Anyone who has watched dame all season can see he is playing through various injuries.
That is was not made public does not surprise me one bit.

Dame is ridiculously tough, no doubt. Just seems pretty "timely" like you said I guess.

I watched Dame all season and he probably is playing through injuries, but so is literally everyone else out there, it's the WCF's and a long season.

Ha Ha Ha! talking to Myself happens for sure but rarely on here. I don't even know how to ignore someone. Other than just to ignore them and not respond. I do that all the time.
Seriously i look at the top of the site and it doesn't tell me how to find "Ignore". What do i do? Do i go to "Resources" or "Members" or do you click on a persons profile?

Hmm? Did someone say something? I was thinking of something important.

He needs to pass the ball or sit on the bench.

His decision making has been crap.

These warriors have 2 offensive players and one great playmaker in Draymond. Their bench is horrific and now Iggy is hurt too.

Even without Dame we have CJ, Seth, Hood, Kanter, Meyers, Collins.

Sucks he is injured but Dames been playing this way more or less since the OKC series.
He did hurt his ribs in the OKC series. Not sure if they were seperated, but I saw him grabbing for and rubbing his ribs in the OKC series.

Ummmm, they lost game 2 as well...

They did, but not sure of our point? He wasn't getting hammered as bad as he is now, and now Portland sees the writing on the wall. I don't think they want the narrative going into the summer that Dame shit the bed. After game two, they probably still thought, "we hold serve and all this goes away" Now they aren't holding serve and are now providing full disclosure.

Plus, when you reveal injuries early, it also informs the other team of the weakness fort them to focus on.. Remember a certain elbow right into Kanter's Shoulder?

Just saying, I understand completely why they wouldn't want the cat out of the bag until the writing was on the wall that were not pulling this out.
