Teammate Meyers Leonard said nobody on the Blazers works harder or is at the practice facility more than Lillard.

"When I look at Dame, that's one of the most impressive things about him: even though he's been an All-Star and has all these accolades, day-by-day he is putting in the work,'' Leonard said. "He holds himself to the highest standard.''

Phil Beckner, an assistant coach at Nebraska who once coached Lillard at Weber State, travelled with Lillard on his shoe tour through Japan, China and France this summer. Over the 15-day trip, Beckner said Lillard took one day off from working out ... and that was on the insistence of Beckner.

On one leg of the trip, they flew 10 hours from China to Paris. When they landed at 8 a.m., Beckner was frozen in disbelief as he retrieved his overhead baggage.

"I still get chills thinking about this,'' Beckner said. "I'm dead tired, reaching for my bags and Damian asks 'When are we working out?'''

On the way to the hotel, they made arrangements to secure a gym, 40 minutes away.

"We ate breakfast, got in a car and he had one of the best workouts I've ever seen,'' Beckner said. "And I told him, 'This is what makes you special, and what you can't lose: Your confidence will come from your preparation.'''

"You know the shtick: Maybe if Lillard worked on his defense instead of hawking shoes in Asia, Kyrie Irving wouldn't score 50 on the Blazers. Or, maybe if Lillard worked on his shot as much as he worked on his rap lyrics he wouldn't be slumping."

Maybe if Lillard didn't do interviews with Quick he would be a better basketball player. :evilfire:

I don't think he does interviews with Quick.... I think Quick is following him around in a creepy white van. How else did he know what Lillard has been doing all summer?

How come when NateBishop starts a thread, the only answer is when Sly one-ups him with some gay disco.

You know, the life of NateBishop is not easy.

Ok, so props for putting (Quick) in the headline. It gives us the option of even entertaining the thread and clicking on his click bait. This should be done for every thread that has a Quick column.

Yeah, sometimes he'll write something worth reading, but I still like to give people the choice.

My specialty is to keep short threads alive. Another reason to love me.
