No, just don't want to make any moves that disrupt the team currently being built. Granted, I have a short memory, but i can't remember the last time Portland had a more intriguing group of very young players. The future looks bright and the journey feels like something enjoyable to experience. Trading the future away to placate a 6'2" point guard who does not play defense and has not shown the ability to make the players around him better seems pretty unreasonable. Presenting him with the choice to be a part of what is being built seems reasonable.
You talk about, "Making his teammates better". When is it the responsibility of those said players to step their games up, and be impact players. Or, just maybe, those players don't have it in themselves to become impactful, because they're just not that good. Name me a player who played with Dame ( and wasn't injured while here , Zach) that has left and become more than what he was here? CJ, same. Norm, same. Harkless, was better with Dame. Aminu, Career basically ended. LaMarcus, stayed a similar level, maybe became less dominant. And on, and on , and on.

I'm in the keep-Dame-until-he-retires-and-beyond camp, and still I fail to see the big controversy in pretty much anything OP said. What's the freakout about? Nothing he said is even false--he got the birthday right and everything. LeBron is a symbol of durability; that's rare! We must consider Dame in all plans. Dame did not take a pay cut. His contract is HUGE. And time does fly, wowee.
Are you familiar with the OP?
