Good stuff. Lillard is the real deal. We've finally got a cornerstone again!!

Seriously how bad does this continue to make the Nets look? Even if they didn't need a PG they could have got a better haul for their pick before the draft or traded Lillard for a nice haul at the draft.

They were desperate to bring in anyone who was a current or past All-Star to get Deron to stay. Enter Gerald Wallace and Joe Johnson.

I like Gerald for his hustle but he was an All-Star only like Jamaal Magloire was one which means in print only (not actuality).

No way. Wallace was amazing when he still had his athleticism. The guy was a trip-dub waiting to happen. Very fun to watch. The problem was that he lost his athleticism and that put his value significantly lower.

Mostly it makes Olshey look good for holding his pat hand, not trying to move up, and still getting the player he wanted.

He had amazing athleticism and rebounded very well for a SF but his numbers were very fringe All-Star even in his best year.

Lets take the Per 36 from his All-Star year and compare it to Batum's this year:

Wallace: 16 pts/game, 8.8 rbs/game, 1.9 asts/game, 1.0 blks/game on 48% shooting and 37% from 3.
Batum: 14.3 pts/game, 5.5 rbs/game, 4.5 asts/game, 1.1 blks/game on 43% shooting and 37% from 3.

Wallace owns in rebounding but comparable everywhere else and Batum hasn't made an All-Star game.

Officially the Spurs' most lopsided home loss in the history of the AT&T Center. Worst since 125-92 defeat vs. Toronto on 2/19/97.

Wallace was an all star because of a few 20 rebound games and the fact he was one of the best defenders that year. He wasn't just thrown in as an after thought, he was (since I think he has definitely lost his athleticism) a freak athlete that crashed the glass like very few SF have ever done and one of the best wing defenders that year.

Oh, by the way, going into the SA game, Lillard had to hit 2 three pointers a game to catch Stephen Curry's 3-point rookie record. He hit 3 last night. :ghoti:

Wait, just to clarify is that the record that Rudy had and Lillard already broke it?

I think Rudy held the Blazer record after Curry beat his rookie record.

EDIT: yeah, Rudy had 159 made, then Curry came back with 166.

http://bkref.com/tiny/G7bZv Here's a quick look at Lillard, Curry, and Rudy. Lillard has 134 3PM.

EDIT 2: and Lillard's on pace to do it; he's averaging 2.2 makes per game, and only needs 2 per game.

This is pretty crazy but I think Lillard will be better than curry. Lillard seems like a stronger, more head strong player. The format in golden state since curry was there has always been run and gun; which gives him way more opportunities there. Lillard is doing it with still a slower paced team.

Another side note. If the comparison is thought about; curry was a shit defender when he was first in the nba. Now he is pretty damn good. I hope Lillard can get to his defensive level in the same time.

Honestly, I think it makes Sacramento look bad, not so much the Nets.

Fair point, but even as a rookie, Curry's stealing ability far exceeded what Lillard can do; with that in mind I don't think Lillard will ever be as good as Curry defensively.
