The Trail Blazers have announced that Damian Lillard will represent the team at the 2013 NBA Draft Lottery, which will be held less than two weeks from now on May 21st. While Portland has just a 1.1% chance at landing the top pick, there has been a good precedent set for the Trail Blazers in the past in terms of sending Rookie of the Year winners to be the face of the franchise. We all remember Brandon Roy being selected to be that face back in the summer of 2006 and he came back to the Rose City with the No. 1 pick in hand. Will history repeat itself in 11 days? Only time will tell, but who can forget that wonderful May afternoon, seven years ago?

Ok, 2 things, one I love how he is getting name out there and getting rep and respect and two I hope he brings us luck for the right pick and not necessarily the top pick.

I'm guessing if they do luck into the lottery, Blazers will not take Noel.

Remember the last time the RotY repped the Blazers at the lottery?

Even HCP makes an appearance in the video!

My thoughts exactly!!! please don't take a dangerous pick again.

Although Roy had bad knees and he drafted a guy with bad knees. lillard is a stud, so maybe he'll bring us another stud! :MARIS61:

Dude! I was literally standing right next to HCP (I'm the fat bearded guy with his fists in the air), and didn't know it! #BrushWithGreatness'Husband

Would it be a trip if we won the number one pick and pick an often injuries center?

Uhhhh am I missing something? Didnt Noel just tear his acl? I doubt they would use it, bet olshey would trade it. But to not take a defensive center because of a torn acl who seems to be the consensus #1 because of history and superstitions is a terrible idea.

Oden was always the right pick and all 30 teams would have taken him. They are liars if they say differently today.

He was the right pick but still often injured. I am talking about awesome luck to terrible all in one year

I hope we win the right pick whether that is 1 or 11 and regardless of position. I just want him to be lucky.

For me it is the combination of his injury and the fact that he is smaller than Aldridge and completely raw offensively. If Noel is the BPA, then I hope they would trade down. I'd rather have Len.

If we get Noel, I would be totally down with trading LA and Wes for younger players and start a full rebuild. With some sort of combo multi-team trade, if we could end up with Boogie and Reke, it could be sick.

Dame/Reke/Nic/Boogie/Noel has the potential to become a contender in a few years.

You'd be guessing wrong, they will take Noel, and he will get injured again!

Or they may actually trade the pick.

I'm starting to think lucky might mean getting the 2nd or 3rd pick that takes off the pressure of making the right pick and instead having to settle for the "good" pick.

Noël is the best Christmas present a fan could get.

If we get pick 2 or 3 I want olshey on the phones offering up the pick for players that immediately benefit us

I don't care if Noel is the best big man since Bill Russell, if we get the #1 we cannot take him. No. Can't happen. Although it's not like there's a Kevin Durant in this draft.

We could technically STILL lose our pick to Charlotte, right?

It's Top 12 protected, and only two teams behind the Blazers in the lottery could move ahead. Blazers are at 10. Worst they can get is 12, so the pick stays with PDX. Can 3 teams move into the Top 3? I thought only two could, but maybe not?

There are 4 teams behind us. There are 14 teams in the lottery. Is my math correct? If 11, 12, and 13 win the lotto, we're the 13th pick.

Yeah, I was wrong. You're right. If three teams behind PDX jump Portland, then the Blazers would be at 13.

The odds of that are almost impossible, but technically, I think you're right!

Well, three teams behind us would have to make it into the top three.... I'm not a math genius but I think the odds of that happening are fairly slim.

So pass on the consensus #1 pick?

Just because Oden and Bowie were injury prone (among others) does not mean Noel will be injury prone and have a shitty career.

He tore his acl, lots of people do.

At what point do you learn from history and stop repeating the same mistakes?

I wonder what the odds are of three of those four teams winning the lottery. Anyone?

You're right. Let's just pass on every consesus #1 big man because of shit that happened in the past.

It's not like he's 100% healthy. We're talking about a rail thin big guy who is just coming off a major knee surgery. Don't act like there aren't things to be concerned about.

He has a torn acl. Players have those all the time nowadays and come back good as new. If the team checks him out and everything looks A-OK, it would be stupid to pass on him because of bad luck in the past.
