Zombie Damian Lillard to request trade in coming days (nope, he's not.)

This rumor by a former ESPN employee was so big that it wasn't even on the ESPN crawl last I looked.

All I got to say is Abbott tried / thought he would imitate Woj with a breaking news tweet and he face planted so hard and now looks like a complete tool -- good job keep it up and we can put you in with Clownazo as people who should be ignored

I think Dame is hesitant to be too assertive to the media about making trades because he knows CJ is our best tradeable asset. Them seemingly being best friends means he's saying they have to trade his close friend. It's a tricky situation because of them being so tight but knowing CJ would have to be part of a trade to improve the team.

Windhorst said the meeting was pre planned, it wasn’t a reaction to the trade report. Also it’s happening tonight, presumably now. When will we hear what was said?

I actually enjoyed how many of the local media types here were blindly supporting him, and ripping on Nurk for "feuding" with him.

This really blew up in 1080's face, and to a lesser degree 750 and 620, but especially in 1080's face.

well, my recollection is that almost all trades around the draft involve current draft picks and Portland has none. I don't remember many 3-team trades around draft day. Without a draft pick, Portland would not even be bringing a knife to a gunfight, they'd be bringing a harmonica (although that worked for Charles Bronson)

Check out this old French Hip Hop track:

Seems like Dame is pretty clearly saying improve the roster, get better playoff results, and make the team a legitimate championship caliber roster or he'll demand a trade. The main problem is that Olshey doesn't make good moves so I will not be surprised to see Dame demanding a trade after this season.

Agree with the first half of this. But with Neil I don’t think anyone knows if he can or cannot make good, big moves because he has never needed or wanted to do it. Hence why we are in this situation. Now that he has to, we will see what he can pull off. Also, people forget they have an actual entire basketball operations team that is part of this. He signs off but it’s more than just Neil sitting on phone calls.

The clown Henry Abbott talks about him “breaking” the story yesterday. Pretty much says he heard something and it was either to write the story or not write the story. Doesn’t say how close the “source” was to Dame. Doesn’t have any conviction in his source or the story. Pretty much just threw something at the wall hoping it would stick. This was definitely for the clicks.

This guy goes onto a show to talk about himself and his process. To me, that's insecurity. His original report was that Dame was going to request a trade in the next few days. OK, then wait a few days and it comes to fruition, point at the scoreboard. Instead, he's on a credibility salvage tour.

Then he goes on to talk about how Dame wanted to assemble a super team in Portland? Wha? "That's one of the things I heard." Well, I mean, any good player would love to assemble a super team, but you "heard" this? And another thing he heard was Neil Olshey doesn't like to trade his players and that's why CJ's still a Blazer ... that's "one of the things (he) heard." Heck, he could have heard this from dozens of people on this forum with no connection to the Blazers.

hey henry, I’ve got sauces. they say you’re an ass-hat.

they also tell me MJ is coming out of retirement to play in PDX with Dame. he decided better late than never.

This guy talks about what Dame did or didn't say ... and he goes on to say what he heard might or might not be accurate and true.

And there he is, about halfway into the segment talking about where he thinks Dame should go.

OK, are you a reporter or an analyst or what? And stop giggling over yourself when you are trying to downplay that you aren't sure about what you are saying and it's 90% speculation.

Listening to this just irked me.

I've been a player, a coach, a scout, a consultant for basketball organizations, I've been involved with an NCAA team that made it to the tournament, but my degree and the biggest part of my career is as a journalist, and schmucks like Abbott bug me because they make the public lose faith in the industry. And, unfortunately, they seem to get a big platform because every now and then they get it right, but they make everyone look bad when they get it wrong, as a result.

Even if he's right, he makes it look like it was by chance by coming on here, giggling nervously, trying to defend what he reported and then saying several times he's unsure of the veracity of several things he's heard. He sounds shaky. For gosh sakes, if you believe what your reported stand by it and don't go out looking for allies to say "I know him, he's a good guy."

sounds like Abbott is an S2 fan.

...happen to have link to what Chris & Rob said right after Hanky Panky Abbot hung-up? :dunno: Hopefully Rob blasted him some more for "getting it wrong"! @TrueHoop is dead to me.

@SlyPokerDog At 6:11

"Paul Allen's will that after some time, if team isn't making money, it has to be sold"

Does anyone else out there love Dame, understand his frustrations with the franchise, mostly hopes he succeeds, but also (if he gets traded) wouldn't feel that bad for him if he goes to the sixers and then embiid get hurt? I think he's got a pretty good gig here. Also, he seemed really happy with the team's roster coming into last season. Is he part of the reason we kept terry, wouldn't trade cj, and rolled out melo way too much?

The grass ain't always greener. I've lived that and found out the hard way.

Dame has become, the Michael Jordan of rip city. Without a title. No matter how much success he could potentially have in another NBA city, especially one like LA, Chicago, or Boston, he will never be considered the greatest in those cities. If he sees this thing through in Portland, he will build on his legacy. And if he's able to lead Portland to a Championship, with all that's against this franchise from an outside point of view, he will become as legendary a player as any that have played, because of what he was up against. Of course this is my opinion, but think about it. It's way easier to capture the Grail in the Big Markets. Do it here, especially now, Freakin' Spectacular.

That's one thing I'm finding hard to wrap my brain around.

Unless he's been ok with trading CJ, this is a lot of hot air.

Yeah but at what cost to his credibility and future clicks.

I heard that MJ is coming out of retirement to play for Portland's new baseball team.

I heard it from a voice in my head while I was mowing the lawn. This is a sauce I believe unquestionably.
