Zombie Damian Lillard to request trade in coming days (nope, he's not.)

I just kept trying to get him to say it wasn’t 100% and he said fine 99%.

I really hope he’s wrong. But he said Dame was so underwhelmed with the off season (although it’s not over!) that he’s just done.
I don't normally believe random strangers on the internet, but this all honestly checks out. Expect a trade before the season starts. Smh. Neil never built a contender around this guy. Can we please get rid of Neil?

What exactly did dame expect to have happened?

They had very limited cap space...there hasn't been any trades made (that were targets that Portland should have gone after)...what exactly, outside of trading CJ, could they have done so far?

Lots of teams have salary cap restrictions, but many of them still found a way to add someone to their roster who is better than Cody Zeller.

I think the "lets have patience" stance would be valid if Olshey hadn't gone 7 straight years w/out making a big move.

It makes zero sense that after all the rumors where he basically says don't believe it until he says it, that of all people who leak it, it's his brother.

This just smells like someone's feeding you a line

If Dame asks to be traded, Neil needs to be fired immediately and someone else can come in and handle it. Because in that case Neil failed completely.

I can’t believe there are people still trying to rationalize it.

What free agent could they have gone after that would have mattered?

What logic does the team have alienating A: the best player to ever play and B: the vast majority of the fan base??

Especially if she's wanting to sell. Teams value isn't as good if Damian is cast aside in favor of the GM.

Doesn’t sound like he’s leaking. Just having a conversation with a random person that happened to post it online.

I was so distraught I broke my self-imposed ban to come on here to share. He is REALLY close with Houston, but I hope he’s wrong still.

It is ironic because the same people that have gotten annoyed at people like us talking about trading Dame if he really wants out, and not farting rainbows about the situation, will be the same people that turn on Dame when he actually asks out.

I'll defend him and understand why he wanted out. It is what it is. I would embrace a restart. Or a big trade that makes Dame happy.

This shit we have done so far in the offseason is what irritates me. Running it back is a waste of everyones time.

Again, so the guy who keeps things very tight/close to the chest, is going to have his BROTHER, of all people, blab about it? And not be like "dude, don't fucking tell ANYONE this"

Nah. I get annoyed about it because all these guys like Abbott and Stephen A Smith throwing out rumors that have hurt our team and made the situation worse. It's all about getting Dame out of here and fuck the Blazers. As a Blazer fan that pisses me the fuck off. I'm not going to play that. I'm not going to play rumors.

If Dame does ask out and gets traded that will be heartbreaking. He's the best chance the Blazers have at winning a trophy anytime soon. He is the best player to ever play on the team. If he goes that's fucked. I won't be mad at him. I will wish him the best of luck. But, it hasn't happened and I'm not going to do what ifs besides saying Neil needs to be gone if that happens.

You know whats funny tho? Let's say he does get traded to the 76ers and it costs the 76ers Ben Simmons + another player+ picks.

The 76ers aren't winning the title with that team, so Dame isn't any closer.

Dame is the loyal spouse who's partner continues to do less and less to hold up their end of the relationship. Loyal people get divorces all the time.
first of all, its stupid to speak about loyalty in sports (cause you never know what can happen in the future and dames going through it now), but i simply cant accept that, theres literally no player in the league that has spoken about loyalty as much as he has and he will get roasted by the nba fans if he bolts and rightfully so (but not as much as lebron or durant as no-one expects dame to lead the blazers to the championship)... he wanted to win the chip with the blazers and still do, but now he realizes hes 31 yo and that its very likely that it wont happen, but you know, its easy to be loyal when its all good and when youre young and not thinking about later stages of your career, but loyalty is tested when tough times come, cause its then when you show your true colors and theres no doubt dame lillard will show his (i cant even imagine him wanting out, hed become such a hypocrite)

Philly will have an easier time getting ring chasers in the near future.

What free agent could they have gone after that would have mattered?

I think there are a few flaws with this question:

1) It requires me to say Portland could've got someone to sign for the TPMLE or the full MLE (there was a way for them to have the full MLE as I understand it). It's impossible to know who might've been willing to sign, so any name I throw out turns into an unprovable debate of if it could've happened or not.

2) It implies that free agent signing in the only way they could've improved the roster in the last week/month. As I mentioned in my last post, we're seeing other teams with equally as bad cap situations manage to improve their rosters.

3) Our poor cap situation and players on a team friendly deal is the reason it's difficult for us to make a significant move. The person responsible for EVERY player on this roster and our lack of draft picks is Olshey, so if he can't get anyone better than Cody Zeller this summer, that's 100% his fault.

Why would it be something he tells his brother to completely lock down? There's no massive revelations or actionable secrets here. If it's true, all his brother said was that Lillard is extremely unhappy and it sounds like his brother thinks Lillard is all but done. That's not a particularly strange conversation, if it happened.

Weren't you the one who supposedly had some stories about Dame that suggested he's not the genuine guy we all think he is?

im telling you, neil olshey might be reluctant to trading cj mccollum as he doesnt have dames commitment, as its possible that he trades cj mccollum and lets say gets siakam or simmons and dame demands the trade regardless and that would mean team wouldnt be competitive and it would lead to full rebuild... but if dame asks out, this team can still fight for the playoffs... im closer to the belief that blazers wouldnt go into full rebuild if dame gets traded and thats why neil olshey wont go all-in without dames commitment

You're kinda talking out of both sides here (like you're critical of Dame about doing), but I get what you're saying.

The NBA is a business. What players say about loyalty, their teams fans being the best in the NBA, etc. is part of the business. Do I think Dame wants to be loyal to Portland more than almost all other NBA players? Yes. Does it mean he should be forced to stay in an abusive relationship forever? I guess that's where we disagree; I can cut him some slack if we don't even give a real effort to improve this team.

He would play with the best player he has ever played with. I'm sure Dame would be upset but know he tried since it sure as hell doesn't seem like we have any chance to get anyone near as good as Embiid for him. Injury prone or not. Dame is at that age now where regret is on his mind. Dude really wants to win one.

I still would prefer to try to work something out with Boston for Jaylen Brown instead if Simmons.

If you trade CJ for a comparable player you can trade that player for youth and/or picks if you decide to blow it up
