The weather wasn't as horrible as they predicted, at least here around Joliet. I know a tornado touched down on the northside of Chicago, but no damages have been reported. I turned off my computer expecting the worst until midnight, now we just have a tornado watch again even though the storms have passed. I'm not sure, but I suppose they're expecting something else to spawn. I hope not for everyone's sake. Good thing you got home safe, Moo. I'm going to keep a watch until midnight or whenever the watch expires, then head to sleep.

Luckily for me, I live in Calgary which is pretty much one of the safest places to be regarding weather conditions. Calgary's basically the Denver of Canada, because like them we're elevated about a mile high and we have the Rocky Mountains. Here in Calgary we can't get hurricanes/typhoons because we aren't near water, we can't get earthquakes because we're elevated too high, we can't get tornadoes because we have the rocky mountains and alot of hills protecting us. The worse thing Calgary gets hit with is a bad blizzard which most people are used to.</div>
Tornadoes can spawn in the rocky mountains, such as Colorado. It really doesn't matter much for the surface as they can even touch down on water as we've seen in places as strange as Scotland. Don't forget a tornado even hit Salt Lake City before. The reason you don't get them is actually because you fall out of an area in which warm air collides with cool air from the north. This usually creates funnel clouds. This is what creates the super cells that can spawn tornadoes. The only areas in Canada that can get tornadoes are from Ottawa to Montr?al. Weather experts like to call that the "mini-tornado alley."
However, you are in an area that can possibly have major earthquakes. There's really no escaping natural disasters. We also are in an area that can cause major Earthquakes. Many people don't know about the New Madrid plate that is supposedly one the most unstable areas on this planet. If it causes a major Earthquake along the Miss River as scientists predict could happen at anytime, we could see something with a magnitude of up to 12.0!!
