I just got home from the RG and it was on fire tonight. The possesion where Artest missed a layup and howard pushed to roy on the wing and then roy to miller for the layup, it was the loudest its been all year. I thought it would explode!!

I want to first reckognize DaRizzle's fail post earlier, where you at homie??

Couple Game Thoughts

1)Roy - most efficient player in NBA

2) Webster D on Kobe in the first three quarters was phenomenal

3) LMA - did you play tonight???

4) Miller - just a great PG, stop being jealous nate!!!

5) Bayless was really aggressive tonight, but seeing him up close, he still has a lot of work to become a good passer/pg in the league.

6) We really really need frontcourt help, i think they had like 25 second chance points....

The Blazers were lucky throughout the game with all the LA players shooting so poorly. It was funny seeing kobe miss so many shots. LA is not the same without Gasol.

Anyways, GO BLAZERS!!

I agree with most of these points here, although I wouldn't put an absolute term like MOST there, only because I haven't personally seen alot of the other teams play yet (at least the teams the Lakers haven't played minus a few games I've seen on NBA TV when I have time), but I stand by the fact that I think Roy is very fundamentally sound and plays with a veterans mentality. He is DEFINITELY up there as one of the more efficient players in the league. I still laugh at Minny trading for Randy Foye...*sigh* (Not a Minny fan, so that sigh was fake).

I will say about Kobe missing shots, that us Laker fans kind of take for granted that he does have that fractured finger, cause those first week or two of games after he hurt it, he was phenomenal (well with a hurt finger), and I think its affecting him MORE than he knows. Now tonight, I think it was a combo of hurt finger, poor shot selection, forced shots, great defensive by Martell, and ball hogging.

Anyway, this is me repping your post, without giving you the forum rep credit :P

Um Bayless has been quite a good passer. When his own offense has been off which until tonight happened often, he got his team involved a lot like against the Clippers at home, Philly, etc. He also had some nice passes tonight so...

Fuck passing! We don't need assists from him, we need instant offense! That's what he brought tonight. The way he is gonna help our team now and in the future is to come in the game and take pressure off of Brandon on the offensive end. Well played game JB!

What i was trying to say is that, he has a bull mentality. Like u see him ready to charge into the paint when he starts his engine from foul line extended. and he attacks and tries to lay it up, or dunk etc whether he gets fould or not, and i think if he would pass to open shooters (like brandon does off penetration) then he would be a lot more effective

Yea, but kobe had to be assertive.... no one can really score on that team consistenly other than gasol, and kobe had a off game, so they lost

I WANT MY REP haha jk

Just wish he would have a little more vision, thats all

He does force things up, but he does make some of those passes too. Maybe not as much as someone like Roy, but he is known to kick it out. Blake and Webster have benefitted from this from both Bayless and Roy. Yes, he can improve on his game like any young guy, but I have seen nothing to suggest he cannot or will not pass to the open man.

Scoring points is a good thing.

Im the biggest bayless fan, i would just love to see his passing improve a little, he would be pretty unstopable

Seeing the crowd on TV it's amazing how many L.A. transplants live in Portland.

I was shaking my head in awe when Bayless hit those 4 long jumpshots in a row . . . Where did THAT kind of shooting come from?

I'm really liking what I'm seeing from Dante.

He' not as tall but he reminds me of Joe Smith.

oh yeah, is it just me or do the laker fans in ptown all look like huge douchebags?

God I was surrounded by Laker fans...literally in front and to both sides...

2 of the 3 groups spent most of the game texting...the guy to the left of me spent 10 minutes talking to someone a couple sections over standing up and waving "Do you see me? Do you see me now?"

uggg

I actually think Bayless is well ahead of schedule for becoming a guy on the level of Chauncey Billups, and while some people may think I am smoking crack, go back and look how his career started and proceeded. The difference being, instead of like Chauncey where team after team gave up on him, Bayless has had the stability of the Blazer franchise. They are similar in size, athletic ability coming out of school (Billups was off the charts), their game is more scoring focused but they do get assists. Both are good defenders.

Chauncey really didn't hit his full stride until year 5. We are only in year 2 and Bayless looks ahead of schedule to me.

We will take some lumps along the way, like the free throw vs Memphis. But you will note, that he rebounded from that game, with a stellar performance. That is the mark of a good player. Just like how every time Roy has a bad game (like once every 20), the next game you better watch out. He will drop the mother load on you.

Just think folks. Bayless wouldn't even be out of college yet if he had stayed in. Keep that in mind.

I know this is a stereotypical thing to say, but I think you have to go by the age of the person too.

I've sat next to Laker fans who are in their 40's and older, who know the history because they were there. They talk friendly smack, and respect you if you know players on the team and respect the franchises. They tend to be not as wrapped up in "I have a bigger cock than you" game (signed, "THE" HCP).

The other Laker fans who are in their late teens and 20's, are just douche bags who are the biggest group of douche bags there are in the world of fans. Talking all sorts of shit about teams, when they don't even know that the Lakers lost many finals series to the Celtics before they finally fought on through. They don't know the pain that older fans know. They know that Jerry West is "the logo", and a Laker, but they don't know why he's so revered by older Laker fans. They see that Wilt Chamberlain played on the Lakers and think "he was ours!"

I doubt they could even name the years they won titles. I can and I'm not even a Lakers fan.

72 (their first in LA), 80, 82, 85, 87, 88, 00, 01, 02 and 09. And that's all off the top of my head, because I know and respect the game. I hate the fan-boy dipshits who like the Lakers because it's cool.

That's a great comparison. He has a very similar game to Joe Smith, and is even built like him.

The key for Bayless is being able to hit jump shots. His stroke still looks flat to me but so was Drexlers. Maybe it's because they elevate so high on their jump shots? Anyways Bayless is going to have to force teams to respect his perimeter game or they will just sag off him like they did the previous 8 games when he did very little.

It doesn't matter how much he elevates on his jumper, it's still flat enough that needs more arc for it to have a better chance of getting a shooter's bounce. As for improving and becoming a dead-eye shooter? I kind of doubt he'll ever average much more than 36% from behind the arc (with his current mechanics), but as long as his long ball is credible enough to keep defenses honest, and maybe more importantly, if he can develop a stop and pop shot or a floater in the midrange area of the court he's going to be a load offensively for any team to deal with.

In fairness, I doubt many of them actually qualify as Laker fans. Most of them wouldn't know Jerry West if he walked up and shook their hand. They are just Kobe fans. (as sad as that is)
