Darren Aronofsky to direct Wolverine 2... holy crap

Darren Aronofsky, director of Black Swan, The Wrestler, and Requiem for a Dream, is expected to direct the sequel to the X-Men spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine, tentatively titled Wolverine 2. Holy shit.

Aronofsky was rumoured to be in the mix to helm the Superman reboot but the powers that be ultimately chose Zack Snyder (The Watchmen, 300). Whether Aronofsky was seriously in the running for that film I have no idea but the fact he is even attached to direct Wolverine 2 is a shock.

In addition to Aronofsky, screenwriter Christopher McQuarri is also attached. McQuarri wrote Valkyrie, The Way of the Gun, and most notably, The Usual Suspects.

Naturally this could be an epic troll job by Marvel to drum-up interest in the Wolverine sequel.

The first one kind of sucked (edit: did suck) and was a bit pointless to boot, considering the other X-Men movies were mostly about Wolverine anyway.
