So many jokes can me made from his Twitter handle..... Like really?

also interesting signature.. Campus Attic, someone from that site posts on here some.

Agreed, NB.

This is odd. Some fans are posting he just liked the pic and put it on his twitter. Other fans are posting that they think this is a sign he'll be back.

I'll refer to my original thought..."interesting".

Well, if all this is true, I hope we find a way to get the ball in his hands more. With he, Addison, Marshall, MM and Tyner it's may be too many weapons.

They should use him like they did prior to this year.

one thing people arent mentioning is The last 2 years prior The coaching staff had rocks name LaMichael, and Kenjon one year, and Kenjon the other year. I am a big fan of Marshall, and Tyner has the chance to be great, but they arent the yard chewers that LMJ and KB were (yet)

I think most of us want(ed) DAT in more space, but I cant say I blame them for using him in the backfield a lot more.

he was crushing this season prior to twisting an ankle in the Cal monsoon game during a kickoff return... no one touched him, he just turned it. He's proven to be a great threat in a variety of roles including featured RB, but like most every other athlete health is important.

If he comes back they'll have a variety of really fast elusive guys competing, but I won't be surprised if he comes out on top for the #1 RB spot again. [captain obvious]He's a stud[/captain obvious]

For their Duck careers, LMJ averaged 6.6 yards per carry while KB averaged 6.2. Marshall, Tyner & DAT all averaged 6.2 yards per carry this season... those averages suffered when Mariota struggled through injury

True, I guess I was meaning more of how much they could be relied on gamei in and game out. Marshall and Tyner probably weren't ready to be relied on that heavily yet

I wonder if he'll play both ways next year? He was a top db in high school and it may be his position in the NFL. He could get 7 touches or so on offense and play safety on defense.

I just don't see DAT as a run stopper or a player that could bring down too many Pac12 RB's without getting hurt.

That's where Lane Kiffin wanted him too...but, Chip had other ideas.

I think he'd be OK in pass coverage, but not with any significant run support. I would doubt his ability jam a physical receiver and get off his block in a cover 2, 3. He would make a terrible hard cover in the flat when its necessary for the DB to take the run play outside and keep his body squared during contact.

Remember last year with all our injuries in the defensive backfield? I remember reading staff had DAT at CB in practice but it wasn't, well, practical.

I like him as a wideout on punts (we saw this in the RB) but nothing more.

And I agree. So play at his NFL position (safety) and then get him the ball for 7 touches on offense.

I think he's incredibly dangerous as a slot receiver and a situational running back. I'd like to see them use him more imaginatively next season (if he comes back.) They kind of forgot about him when he came back from his injury, which was very strange.

except that overall their averages this year in scoring, rushing & total offense stacks up to past years. Spreading the carries around and achieving more or less the same results isn't a bad thing. Previous to Marcus's knee issue, they were on pace to have their most prolific offense ever

Not disagreeing with you. Just pointing out one crutch that Chip could have leaned on more than Held could have his first year. Then ahead Chip had Masoli his first year Lol. Next years RB corps will be filthy with Marshall, Tuner, Freeman, Tony James

I wonder if Kani Beniot could transition to defense. I heard a lot of positives about him in spring and early fall practice, but then not much as the season progressed.

He's a big guy with a 4.48 speed.

Love to see him playing defense as cracking the RB depth chart will be tough.

...& apparently DAT. Someone will probably Redshirt.

I wonder if Chip would have left Mariota at the reigns following his knee injury. Possibly overlooking the importance of having a running threat at QB in this offense is the one thing from this past season that I really questioned Helfrich on. Unless the backups were really underwhelming in practice, I just don't see why they didn't get a crack at it for a few games while MM healed. Both guys seem to be athletic/fast and capable.

Who would you have started in place of Mariota? Neither of the backups seemed ready for big minutes when we did see them.

I'm still skeptical tht DAT comes back, but still agree on the Redshirt. James would be my guess at this time.

According to several sources, DAT has officially declared that he will enter the draft.

Best of luck to him.
