so says Dave Alessandro in the following blurb from his recent blog aabout Jefferson's reaction the trade:

"Second reaction: Lots of eye-rolling after hearing, "It was a surprise and I didn't know. There was no heads-up."

He was told at least three times that a trade is an absolute certainty (4/15 after the Charlotte game, 4/12 at Milwaukee, 3/29 after the Phoenix game), and each time he agreed that he had to emotionally prepare himself for the inevitable. The summer mission statement was spelled out in neon - move Richard, get back something that works - and he knew it."

Fact is we all knew but I was hoping the Nets would get something more for Richard than a marketing ploy and an expiring contract for one of the Nets better players ,,, as D"Alessandro makes clear, Richard is a nice guy who will be missed...have to agree on this point.

Yi is a marketin ploy.. but i feel he is so much more... i think he will be a star in the league! along with ryan anderson!

RJ definitly knew it was coming, possibly since before the season started. It was inevitable really. He's a half and half. Half of him really loved it here and bled Nets, and I believe that will remain in him, but this season, the other half was a bit more selfish in his playing, jealousy issues, and so on.
I will miss him leaning on the garbage can and saying "go nets" , as Izzazzone said.

D'Alessandro tore RJ a new one on his column almost weekly, Nets get rid of RJ for yeah a risk but that wasn't the point of the trade anyhow and now hes bitching about it?

Also D'Alessandro stated so many times that the Nets were not getting that great of offers on RJ, why is HE surprised of what we got?

For the last year, the Nets has been trying to dangle RJ for Odom, JO, Carmelo, and other groups of players. You telling me RJ didnt know he was being shopped this offseason? And if not takers, Nets would probably send him off for less than market value. RJ and his agent knew all along NJ was shopping him, dont know why he is playing the innocent game.

I hope thats a joke. Hes been our hardest worker for years and consistently helped us out in big ways. You're not a Nets fan if you really believe what you just wrote.

RJ has probably been one of the most loyal Nets ever and will definately always be welcomed back in Jersey, and I will definately give him a standing O when I go to see him. As for Yi, there is no way you can make a judgement on him. Euro players take a couple of more years to develop than college kids, but they have so much higher upside. Players like Gallinari and Dirk will take and took many years to develop. We just have to be patient. I am going to give Yi atleast 1-2 years and see how he progresses because Chinease game is very different than the American game. But Yi will be a very good player, for sure.

Then count me in on that group. I was and am a bit dissapointed we traded him (especially moreso that we got robbed).

And I'm no where near overrating him as much as some on here are already annointing a guy like Yi and especially Ryan f'n Anderson as the saviors of this team. I'll take a proven winner and commodity over an unknown any day of the week. Anderson, I predict will be a marginal role player (a Scott Padget-type) and Yi... is a big question mark. I love the market draw he brings, but I don't know if he'll ever be a big time player or a solid starter/6th man. It can go either way. I'm hoping for the former though...

It only took Dirk 1/2 season, his 1st season was only 40 something games. His 2nd season, he started avging 17.5 and 6.5 rpg. His 3rd, he went 21 ppg.

I'm thinking Yi could be good for 16/8 this season if he can stay healthy and not get too tired from the Olympics.

I doubt this will happen, but I thought of a deal that the Nets can make with the Hawks as long as they do a S&T.

Nets lineup of Harris, Childress, Smith, Yi, Lopez

Hawks lineup of Bibby, Johnson, Carter, Holford, Krstic

The Hawks become another version of the Nets 2005-2006 season(Kidd,VC,RJ,Twin,Krstic). while the Nets will be lottery bound but exciting to watch. The trade could work but Atlanta will not take VC's contract nor let Josh Smith go.

You're talking about a guy who consistently played no defense, took bad shots, developed an all-for-me attitude...and, as the main scoring option, led our team to an extremely disappointing season.

He was great pre-injury, when he played like a smart, hard-working, efficient, defensive player....but this past season, I think he wore out his welcome here.
