David Kahn insinuates NBA lottery is rigged

Every time I watch that, by the end of it, I feel depressed.

The Sacramento Kings were the 2002 NBA Champions.

What about the New Jersey Nets??? They were 2-0 vs the Kings that year. People forget that. The Nets were the team that actually got screwed.

It could be rigged, nowadays its a bunch of ping pong balls that I do believe the GM's or a representative of the team watch's as the events take place. Every GM or president that was present the knows what pick they got a good time before it is announced on television but they are not allowed to say anything. KP knew before telling Roy to go up and represent the Blazers, that we already had the #1 pick. The way it is setup now is the team with the worst record only has a 25% of winning, so 75% of the time they won't get the #1 pick.
Khan is pissed his team didn't win it and as usual when he gets pissed he says shit before he stops to think.

Kahn is pissed because he won't be able to draft Irving; another point guard would have rounded out the Wolves roster nicely. Perhaps they can take Kemba Walker.

I tried to use him to get some information on John Edwards (he was the chair of the oregon campaign) back when he lived in PDX for a school project, and he was incredibly odd. I didn't get far talking to him, mostly because he refused to communicate through anything but snail mail. Little did I know that he was an NBA executive and go on to preside over a long period of dismal Timberwolves teams. Not all together surprising.

Kahhhhhhhhhn! I'd be terrified if he were running my team.
He might run the league better than Stern. I don't mind his yapping.

Now how did I know, Mr. Status Quo, that you would side with authority and the system as it stands?

I expect Minny to get fined, and one of their picks to be taken away now.

and auctioned to the highest bidder? Or just given to the L*kers?

I guess he was kidding:

It's easy to make up a conspiracy theory in reverse. If Toronto won, its because we lost Bosh. If Utah won, its because they lost Williams. If 'Sota won, its because they have never won before. The only fishy thing is that Cleveland won with Clippers' pick which is best case scenario because their own pick was guaranteed to be top 5.

Bosh is the third wheel in Miami, meaning Cleveland losing an MVP is more devestating, and Utah already received compensation for Williams in the form of Derrick Favors and Devin Harris, plus the NJ #1 pick.

So ... not so much. You actually lend credence to Kahn's complaint. :)

I'm not so sure about that, the Nets ended up being swept by the Lakers, that same team that needed a league conspiracy to beat the Kings in 7 games.

It's all hypothetical at this point, but I believe the Kings would of beat the Nets handily.

I agree that our brains want to see patterns, and regardless of the outcome, the conspiracy-minded amongst us would have been able to find something to support their preconceptions.

I don't think he was kidding at all. Yeah, he said it with a smile and a chuckle, but it was the kind that you use when you want to say something that you believe, but know would piss people off if you said it completely seriously.

if kahn drafts a pg, we will know everything we need to about all of this

Isn't that the same logic we used when we passed on D. Will and Chris Paul because we had selected Telfair the year before?

i was just typing nonsense, i feel like nostradamus now. you will never crack my intricate code shrouded in its isolated tower of indecipherable speech

If it were rigged, I don't see how the NBA would have let the Blazers and Sonics win the lottery during one of the hottest drafts of the decade (Durant/Oden). And leave it to the FailBlazers to make the wrong move.

I can see why he'd be mad. They tanked it so hard at the end of the season to undercut Cleveland, and Cleveland got it anyway. I'm sure he's gnashing his teeth.
