Randolph is better than any Net big man, and Curry was still ahead on the depth chart. Lee had to share minutes with both of them. Neither Lopez, Boone, nor Sean will average 30+ minutes or get as many touches as Randolph/Curry. If Lee goes to the Nets, his numbers might decrease solely because he’s playing a slower paced game.xflavioVC15x said:David Lee averages a double double bcuzz hes the only knick big men who is actually useful. If he goes on the nets hes numbers will be down cuzz he has to share minutes with lopez boone and sean.
Now you are just speculating. How can you say so definitively that Lee is going to sign with a contender? Even if he does, we still own his bird rights.Netsfan318 said:Your not going to resign him, he's going to walk away, no way a kid like him turns down big money from a contender. As for Lee on offense what you just said about him is Josh Boone when healthy exacept Boone plays D, David doesn't. For all the things I hear and see about David Lee he is an off the bench player when he is defended 1 on 1 he goes cold, he has a raw jumper, improved in the FT department, can rebound and box out and that's just about all he does and the majority of that he does is vs bench players 6-9 lineup players every once in the blue he'll have a 20/10 rebound game but your nuts if that's what you think he is.
Let’s see: I mentioned his developing jumper. Lee is developing a jumper, while Boone is entering his third season and has no semblance of a jump shot. Lending credence to this is his abysmal FT%: .456. Boone’s percentage actually worsened while Lee, in a matter of a year, increased his FT% by 24%. Boone is also nowhere near the passer Lee is. Lee usually spots the cutter and ignites transition with the outlet pass. In terms of setting screens and knowing where to be on offense, Lee is way more savvy and is not a liability offensively like Boone. It also must be stressed that Lee is the better rebounder than Lee and has a better “nose for the ball”.
And if you say a majority of what he does is against bench players, then you clearly don’t watch enough of him. Though he doesn’t start, Lee finishes games and still plays 30 MPG. Most bench players don’t play 30 MPG. I never said Lee will ever be a 20/10 player but he has more potential to be than Boone. This season Lee will probably start and can easily average 15+ points and 10+ rebounds, which is pretty solid production. I doubt Boone ever cracks such numbers.
Not to say Boone doesn’t hustle, but I’ve watched them both and Lee simply hustles more. In terms of fighting for rebounds, lose balls, etc. he just does more.So much of what you provide is, as usual, subjective and therefore not worth discussing. "Hustle and Passion for the game"? How is that defined? Quantified? By smiles, by screams, by protesting refs. Perhaps fist bumps or body slams per game? Boone has a different personality than Lee. That makes him less of a hustler and less passionate about the game? What horseshit reasoning.
Neither have post moves...none. Ball handling? based on what? Speed? prove it. Jumping skills? Vertical jump stats please. Tiresome.
He is an athlete who has yet to develop an outside shot. The reason he hasn't been re-signed is that he hasn't advanced his game.
Lee actually has solid post moves. The Knicks can isolate Lee on the block and have a reasonable chance to get a bucket or get something from the line (80% FT shooter). Whereas Boone cannot score without being assisted or getting a putback.
Ball handling-wise there’s no question Lee is far more superior; he’s actually ambidextrous. Lee can handle the ball in the open floor and has shown solid ball handling in the low post. Boone cannot do that.
As for the statistics on jumping skills, speed, etc. it’s pointless. Though you might not want to believe that Lee is more athletic, the fact still remains he is more productive, has more skills, and is more valued in this league.
So because Lee hasn’t developed a consistent jumper he hasn’t advanced his game? The fact that he increased his FT% by 24 means he advanced his game. The fact he used to average 5/4 and then 11/10, 10/9 respectively means he advanced his game.
