A lot of people I interact with are what I would call "extremely casual fans". Bandwaggoners, front runners, etc. They'll get kind of excited during the playoffs, but don't orient themselves around the team and their games like a lot of here do.

That being said, I have not talked to one person today who didn't know about Nurk's injury and what sickened and saddened by it. For all the people that think "I'm too cool to like the Blazers" or "I liked the Blazers back when Walton and Drexler played, but it's too <whatever> for me now", they sure pay attention and act like true fans when something like this happens. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing, but it was interesting to observe today.

Honestly, I loathe the casual fan.

We do watch parties here in LA, we get some good die hards for some, the first game of the year we get a lot, but then mid season, we get like 5 or 6 people, but when the playoffs come, everyone comes out of the woodwork.

I've been obsessed with the Blazers since I was 4 years old and the team went to the Finals against Detroit.

I don't even know what to say. I have had my heart ripped out so many times by this team, i've seen my interest dwindle in the past couple of years. Having a baby, wife, job, close friends will do that I guess.

It's hard to get over the Oden injury, Roy injury, Wes injury, 4th quarter collapse against the Lakers.....the firing of Mike and Mike.

It's like I have Stockholm Syndrome.

Nurk is my favorite player but as a Blazer fan I’ve been conditioned to injuries, so it didn’t take me very long to start thinking about how we were going to replace him or how we would do without him. There’s no point in feeling sorry for ourselves. Heal up big boy and let’s see if Collins can step up. His development will now be accelerated, which in a hidden way may actually get us closer to the ultimate goal.

I'm used to getting fucked over in new and innovative ways by the Basketball Gods.

The new part is thinking Dame had the knee injury, then get relieved then Nurk getting fucked on the next play.

I know, it was like getting gut punched twice in the span of 30 seconds. As soon as Dame went down Mr. Spud goes, "Season over". Then it was like Oh, thank God - Chuck and Kenny think we're going to the finals!!!! And then Nurk goes down and they immediately surround him and throw a towel over his leg. The look on Coach Stott's face said it all - I didn't know if he was going to cry or throw up.

Damn I could not sleep thinking about Nurk. Glad it’s holiday today in Hawaii because I won’t be able to work. We lost our defensive stopper, our ring protector, block shots and passing skills, rebounds and dunk shots, the toughness and cockiness, in one word the BEAST. Get well soon Nurk, and be back stronger.

Let see how Stotts use his big men on this team. Do we see Zach big minutes now to see if he can replace aminu or does he get the same amount. Does Kanter get started minutes or does Stotts give even amount of minutes to Kanter Zach or Leonard. Maybe we see what Skals can do with minutes. But we will find out pretty quick in Chicago.

So you're saying I might be able to afford tickets?
