There were some problems with the first game but overall Dead Rising was a nice surprise.

Dead Rising 2 looks to be a similar game, which can be good if certain things (save system, ticking-time-based gameplay) are completely changed, while the rest remains.

Here is a badass cap of the hero riding a dirtbike through a casino, which is expected to be the game setting (one even Romero hasn't done yet).

Not so pleased to see the same character models being repeated this often, though.

I sooo wanted to have played that first game, but I just couldn't find it and I'm not willing to shell-out a huge amount of money through e-bay.

can't wait to play this game.

I heard the saving system and "timer" on this was real messed up, hopefully they do fix that like you said.

I only have a PS3 btw. :)

Messed up is an understatement. You can barely play the game because of it. A timed mission in any game is usually a pain in the ass--imagine a whole game that's timed, ensuring you can only attempt half of the missions, if that. And the save system is pretty fucky, too. You have one save slot and you have to save at certain locations--no autosave, no auto restart from checkpoint.

If it was just a sandbox game with unlimited time and missions you take at your leisure, it would've been one of the best games of that year (05? Can't remember). But they wanted to artifically lengthen the game and have multiple endings so they did what they did and came close to ruining it completely.

Killing zombies and raiding stores is hella fun, though. Even if they keep the old broken gameplay system I'll still be sweeping thorough DR2.

Well, I found some more shit.

The game is set a few years after the events of the original Dead Rising. The zombie virus that originated in Santa Cabeza has spread all over the United States. The game will take place in the fictional city of Fortune City, which is modelled after the real-life gambling Atlantic City, New Jersey. Chuck Greene, a former national motocross champion, is somehow caught in the middle of the zombie apocalypse on Fortune City. Just like Frank West (the previous hero from the original Dead Rising), Chuck must survive through every zombie horde he gets into as well as psychopathic civilians and rescue surviving ones.

The gameplay remains similar to Dead Rising with the player controlling protagonist Chuck Greene[3] as he fights off hordes of zombies while accomplishing specific missions. The game will include several new objects that can be used to attack the zombies.[2] The number of zombies which can be seen onscreen at any one time has also been dramatically increased from 800 in the original to roughly 6,000.[4][5] According to Inafune, the new protagonist will be more "interesting" than the previous hero, Frank West.[6]There will also be a greater variety of missions for the player to undertake, and the sequel will retain the original's time management mechanic.[6] However, the original game's photography mechanic will not be present in Dead Rising 2.[7]

The game is set to be released somewhere within 2010.

Ugh... time management mechanic... not what I wanted to hear.

The main character in the first game was a paparazzi. There was a mini-game where you would take photos to earn experience points. It was actually pretty fun. At one point you get into a photo duel with another photographer (which ultimately ends in a fight to the death). They had a bunch of categories for the pictures and certain kinds of pictures would earn you more points. For example, you could get some experience with a photo of a dead zombie (horror/gore category). Or you could get a lot more experience by taking a picture at the moment you slay it. One example is sticking a shower head into the zombie's skull and taking a picture of the blood spurting out of the shower (comedy). That got a lot of points. Another way of getting big XP was getting an upskirt shot of one of your female companions (erotica). There were other categories too like drama, IIRC.

The time mechanic system was dreadful in the original game. Hopefully they have done SOMETHING to renovate it. Otherwise they are preparing to release a game that is as much irritating as fun.

6000 zombies on-screen should be a riot, though.

Sounds interesting. I remember taking a couple of pictures but I didn't do the mini-games. I never actually owned the games, though.

Yeah, the six-thousand zombies will be immense -- Literally.

Pretty, but if the time mechanics and save system are still in the game I think I'll pass.
