Anyone playing it?

The guy at EBGames said it was Resident Evil in space with good controls. Pretty much sums it up.

I'm enjoying it so far.

IMO, fighting games don't have much depth and lose interest rather quickly.

If you get it, be prepared to have to tweak the life out of sliders. It's ridiculous how awful default ones are.

I'm about half the way through the game now, I think, and I'm really enjoying it. I got sick of BioShock but for whatever reason I can keep playing and I keep wanting to play Dead Space. The difficulty (on normal) is nicely tilted so that it doesn't force you into hard battles before you're ready. The pace of the game is spot-on as well.

There's nothing terribly original about the game, it just seems to cherry pick elements from other games and use them in a good way. I've detected elements of a lot of different games in it: Resident Evil, Doom III, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R., and others.

BioShock is an awesome game. Are they doing a number 2? And also in Entertainment magazine (my girlfriend's mother subscribes to it), they mentioned rumor or a BioShock movie....awesome.

Haven't heard of the Bioshock movie. I will say though, Bioshock is easily one of the top 3 games released on this generation of consoles. As for a sequel...

Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams

The teaser trailer is pretty lame, but yes, they are making a Bioshock 2 that's apparently due in Q4 of 2009. Woot!

So I went out and rented this game tonight and...wow. It is damn good. The mood of it is absolutely incredible in this game, it's absolutely creepy as hell. I'm loving it so far. I'm just afraid that the action/combat in it could be stale. Blasting off limbs can only stay entertaining for so long. Regardless of that, I think the mood of this game, as well as the story, will keep me interested enough to beat it.

So now that I'm in chapter 3, I can say this is the BEST survival-horror game I've ever played. Yes, that means better than any Resident Evil or Silent Hill game. The atmosphere of this game is just incredible. It's tense and it builds paranoia to incredible heights. I've never been so keen on walking in a game, but I do in this. I'm constantly in fear about what could pop around the corner and tear me limb from limb. It's great. I love it. Too bad I only have this for a rental though, but it is definitely worth a purchase. It's just phenomenal.

To be honest, I don't know. I'd probably have to say....maybe a 8 or so. There is some seriously freaky shit in the game, but in my book, the "scariness" is created more by the tension. You never know when something is going to pop up around the corner and take you out.

Also keep in mind I never beat the game, so it might get scarier down the line. Also keep in mind that I don't get scared, which is why I can't really call it scary. It is freaky and weird and tense as hell though.

This game really reminds me of Doom 3. It's really tense, too. Half of the time I'm walking around with my gun pointed in the direction I'm going. Just in case.
