no one knows if big ben will play, but charlie batch the backup is getting wrist surgery. so dixon is the back up as of now

"Steelers QB Charlie Batch, Big Ben's would-be replacement, needs wrist surgery and will be sidelined six weeks. Get ready, Dennis Dixon."

"Steelers will have no comment till Mike Tomlin's presser on Tuesday. If it is Dennis Dixon as starter, he has thrown one only NFL pass."

The Arizona Curse is almost fixed! ;)

I'd be cool with this, if it were any other team BUT Baltimore. I hope he's ready, I've been saying for a long time the Steelers have an amazing chance to use the Wildcat with Dixon.

i dont think he can withstand many hits from nfl players...he is fragile

everyone is fragile but Dennis is fast and smart. His history of relative health doesn't lead one to conclude he is especially at risk... unless of course you are a Bitter Beav rooting against all things Ducks

i was saying no to the bitter beaver fan part. and its all opinion, no point in debating if he is durable or not. we have to wait, and see

you list your location as Beavernation, and (searching through your posts) posted "lol" as a response to someone posting a picture of Dixon after he suffered a knee injury

so basically... yeah. Don't deny it

no, why would I?

combined with your listed location, giving (and having) no logical reason for posting this about Dennis, I'm led to an obvious conclusion.

btw... I left out all the exclamation marks you put on your lol in response to someone posting a picture of DD writhing in pain on the ground. Stay classy!!!

so obvious, that your wrong.........but hey, keep judging me for laughing at a joke, and my location.....

lol this is a pointless conversation, and going no where...you dont know if i am bitter or not. a post, and my location does not determine if i am or not

why leave out your negative prediction based on apparently nothing? I was just adding up what evidence I have to go on. Maybe 1 + 1 + 1 doesn't equal 3 in this case, but you can't blame math.

You are aware that Dennis took many hits from 300 lb guys in the Pac 10 right? How about that Joe Montana had the same height and weight? Would Joe be too fragile to play in the NFL? Drew Brees is doing pretty well at the same weight...

I'd love to see Dixon start. So we could see that he's just another Akili Smith and Joey Harrington. :devilwink:

Geez Stomp, give it a rest. It ain't like Dixon is your brother.

You uck guys get your feathers all in a ruffle when someone says something even remotely critical of your former players. And it wasn't like he was calling him a crap player, he just said in his opinion he seemed fragile.

and some Beaver fans can't seem to acknowledge their bitterness to all things Ducks. I find it funny to contend he's being objective when he can't provide another reason, and here you are defending him and coming up with clever nicknames... who would have ever predicted that?

Fear not Steelers fans, Dennis Dixon, and NBC Sports executives. It sounds like Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be able to play this Sunday night against the Ravens.

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Ben Roethlisberger "seems to be fine" after taking a hit to the head in overtime of Pittsburgh's loss to Kansas City.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin will not address the media until his regularly scheduled press conference Tuesday. Roethlisberger took various tests on Monday. Results aren't available yet, but Bouchette credits a source that says Roethlisberger "appears to be well enough" to play against the Ravens.

This report matches the positive early indications Mike Florio heard Sunday night.

Perhaps Ravens fans disagree, but we'll be happy to see Roethlisberger suit up against Baltimore simply because we love football.

The two teams provided three entertaining battles last year. And with the Steelers somewhat on the ropes, it would be a shame to see their title defense fall by the wayside with a third-string quarterback at the helm.

With two Ravens-Steelers bouts on the docket, the Ravens will still get their chances to knock the Steelers out. (And vice versa.)

From PFT

I wouldn't worry too much about Dixon. It's not the Ravens' defense is known as a hard-hitting one or one that blitzes much.

If I were a QB, that's the one team I wouldn't want to face.

...there is a reason that D.Dixonass was selected when he was :dunno:
would a possible factor in that reasoning be that it was known he'd be out the whole first year of the 3 year rookie deal he'd be signing? That he only had one great season (Sr. year no less) probably had something to do with it too. He doesn't have the fastest release or the best mechanics either.

but another clever nickname... you guys are really good at that stuff

Even as a Beaver Fan I'm rooting for him! Go Dennis! Scramble your ass off!

as opposed to Derek Anderson and... ... ... Matt Moore?

Glass houses to say the least
